vol940, our 200/740/940 AW gearbox uses only type II ATF, most of the
brand in the market are ok. I did used AC Delco type III before but I will
go back to type II on my coming service. Just bought a 4 lit pack 'Fuchs'
ATF 3000 type II made by the German oil company which certify for Volvo
car usage at RM45 only.

Volvo original ATF is too expensive. As long as you are using min type II
is OK. THe service interval of ATF change should be within 20,000km. Moure
frequent ATF is better for your car anyway !!

As I explain and explain agian, heat is the main cause of ATF failure
therefore, our tranny seals will be damage. Do consider to add an ATF oil
cooler for cooling the AFT. It will eventually prolong your autogear life
span and lessen your radiator heat load.

SA6,

Many thanks for your sharing info.

At present I use Type III, seems that gear shifting smoother than before.

Hi,
Just got back from Turbo Lim place and I plan to change the ATF oil. He
recommend me to use Redline brand, which it's for performance side. Any
comment?

Redline is famous in performance side, you spend for RM 50 to 60 per
liter for ATF (fully syn).

hehe.. if RM60 per liter n i think i need 8 liter in total which make
rm480. I think I willing to pay such performance ATF instead of original
volvo ATF. :)

REDLINE D4 ATF.

Red Line« Synthetic Motor Oils are designed to provide the highest degree
of protection and cleanliness for your engine. Red Line« lubricants are
manufactured from polyol ester basestocks, the only lubricants which can
stand the tremendous heat of modern jet engines.

a. Improved High RPM Protection.

b. Better High Temperature Lubrication.

c. High Oxydation stability (High resistance to oxydation).

d. High Resistance Foaming.

I can tell you that my V40 drives like a dream after a trip to Turbo Lim.
I am told a big factor of the smoothness is due to the ATF oil used which
was Redline. If it is so, I would highly recommend it.

VOLVO ATF price is RM 96.00 per litre at Federal Auto - HQ
It is always good to use the original if the existing transmission has
adopted to these fluid.
