240 hot start....

should be call cold start valve where by they will assist the car to start
in cold temp. I have never come accross any hot start vale thought ?? but
there is one other valve call auxiliary valve that control the venting of
air located at teh center of the mainfold, easy to recognise as the stand
up high from the center.
By the way zhafri, could you tell me what type of injection is your 240
equipt with ?? there are 2 type, one is the CIS or sometiem call K-jet and
electronic one which 100% control by ECU. If you cannot recognise, easy
just check your fuel injectors, if it is attached by wire than is the
electronic type but is the injectors are just attache to black piping,
that's the CIS system as like my 740 model.

my model didn't have the elctric fan.. mine is '89 using Solex Cisac Carb,
bukan fuel injection... the earlier model of 240 didn't have the electric
fan, only 90/91 models and above got that... i don't think we need the fan
because before this, everything was normal operating with the big fan only.
... i'll try to wash the radiator first, then check the thermostat...

Volvo carb if I recall do have a hot start valve. It's purpose is to vent
off the vapours in the float chamber into the atmosphere thereby assisting
hot starting conditions. It's a long time since I dealt with carb but
there is a way of checking the hot start valve. If only I can remember ...
But from the sound of it you might want to check that out.
And I think the big fan of yours also should be ok. Mine (my 740 ie) also
big fan on the engine. No overheating so far in KL traffic jams. But then
I have 2 fans - smaller one in front of condensor and the big fat one.
Your small one Ok ke?

water pump and is run by belt, yes is the same as my 740 but I have
changed mine into electric runing like 940. The belt runing fat fan will
definately cool the engine !! it is strong and powerful but it take up the
enigne HP, very obvious on the NA 740. That is why I take the belt driven
fan out and use the electric one.
Is good to check out all posibilities becuase we do not know hwich one is
causing the problem, let us know after checking.

hot start problem solved.. mech adjust the choke and some engine tuning..
seems to be okay laaa.. (started and off engine, and start back in short
interval, start fine..before, it cannot start fine after being off shortly)
the temp issue, my mech suggest the simplest solution is to add an electric
fan on the condenser.. the regular aircond man suggest that we just have to
cuci radiator only... my dad keen to cuci the radiator rather than install
electric fan... how do you think guys?? any opinion?? anyone did cuci the
radiator before?? where?? how?? price??

to feel the extra power to your car plus save a little fuel, take out the
belt driven fan and add the electric fan from the Volvo 940 !!

i'm planning to cuci radiator first, and adding the electrical fan will be
the last solution.. any comment??
btw, anyone here did cuci radiator 240 before?? really need ur experience
and story before i touch the radiator. fyi the radiator never been touched
from the day it was born.. that make me feel 'takut' if anything happen and
isturb the cooling system, lagi susah...ermmm
-where to send to cuci radiator?
-what normally they do?
