Good idea ! At least we can have some peace of mind.

However, I have some question too
1) Is this friend finder applies to all kind of h/p ? Does that h/p need
to have a GPRS system ?
2) Howabout safety of the h/p itself ? I heard that someone can trace an
electronic device in the car by somekind of scanner, to trace left h/p and
laptops. Will this not caused the car being spotted or broke in because of
the h/p ?

As for the maintainance, someone in this forum has mentioned a sub-line
from a main line. It actually works as the sub-line will cost nothing
because the telco provides free monthly access fee for the sub-line. I'm
having a sub-line to my gf, and we share the same monthly access fee.

guys...very innovative n cool ideas...

but i've gotta break some bad news to you'll..

there's a new way/style of robbing/stealing a car.....last month, a guy in
subang jaya lost his new merc under his nose..you wanna know how? his
merc was fitted with all recommended daimler chrysler security...

robbers not only took his car, they took him along. drove him all over klang
valley...radius of 100km n dump him 12hrs later in ulu area of ampang.
without food n water, confused as he was blindfolded n almost stark naked,
by the time he got help...all security has been over-rided by a pc expert.

police found him...Daimler tried immo n gps...guess wat? gps says his car's
in his house! too bad for d rich man....trauma for life....then Daimler says his
car's gps state's at home! i think d car's already on its way to HOLLAND!!

this idea is not good. but it is ....kinda odd! how come malaysian
becoming so odd nowadays???

1st, dont misuse words. GPS is not like what you all said. then putting
this handphone to track the car? is even a ridiculous idea actually. you
only know the location. but you dont know the condition. right?

we should have car park, staircase, lift, hall, shops, and ...etc
installed with closed circuit camera and have it well monitored. the cost
is high, but with a single ringgit offer by everyone, i dont think we
cannot built this force to protect ourself, our loves one, our properties
and the most important is the safety issue that is getting worse in
malaysia. by spending that RM20, and top of RM5 every 3 months, it should
be well spend to install closed circuit camera.

This is a cool ideae, but I think this system is better off used for
parents/spouses who want to check on the whereabouts of their loved ones
and ensure that they are not in an area which is uncommon to them.

what aeiou proposed is an excellent cheap way of determining the approx
location of a lost car. No doubt it has its limitation.....but one never
know, this system would at least give you some hope of locating the lost
car though maybe within 100 or 200 hundred metres from the subject. Without
this system once your car is stolen....even after the first junction you
already wouldnt know where its headed..

Mobile phones are already used to detonate bombs....I dont expect you to
detonate your car if its stolen....but if someone could rig another phone
that could be used to fuse some of the car wires or fuel lines,,,,that
would be great at stopping the car....yeah I know it could also blow up the
car up,,,,but who cares...its already stolen anyway.

So whats needed are two handphones...one to stop the car from moving and
the other to locate its whereabout. Excellent idea aeiou.....now back to
the drawing board...

yes, new car with canggih security system are a danger to the owner...they
will jsut cart the driver away, take him on a joy ride, dump him somewhere
and car will be on the way to junkyard for parts.

what aeiou suggest is implimentable. just need tonnes of finetuning, as
long as the theives doesn't know what security system is in the car, then
it is still *findable*.

that is why, sometimes, these owner stick all the security stcikers on
their car and think that it will scare the robbers away, lil do they know
they are letting the robber know what they have, and these jokers(robbers)
will be able to override the system based on the system's weaknesses,
which, as car hijacker...they already know what to do with the certain
brand la!

theres different views on whether the security stickers ought to be
displayed. Theres this view that the stickers also a deterrent....I mean a
car thief sees two identical cars....one with the security sticker and the
other plain joe....he would try steal the one without the sticker thinking
that it has no security system at all. Unless the security system stickered
is so a cheapo one I dont think he will go for the stickered one....

I am driving a CRV and i have my original Honda factory fitted security
inplace but without the GPS. Thinking to fix one but very costly on the
hardware but the killing part is still the monthly fee. The cheap GSM
system idea realy give me what i want at a friction cost of the real GPS
staff. Now, i and very happy to know my CRV location when my wife is
driving the car. My wife felt secured drving alone as i can roughly know
where she is in time of emergency.
Next Week, teach u how to register the GSM tracking.

bOROi,

What you can do is use a different brand of security sticker on your car.
This will easily throw the thief off. Wink
