Excuse me, that's 'GSM' based not GPS. With GPS, you're able to know your
vehicle coordinate :)

1) To track your car, Just type “ Find 012xxxxxxx” and send it to
the shortcode provided by telco. U will then receive a reply msg from
telco
For example:
Friend Finder: 012xxxxxxx is near Kg. Baru, KL, NATIONAL CANCER SOCIETY
JLN RAJA ABDUL MUDA AZIZ (11.25)
2) Since Friend Finder service is based on the celco BTS location,
it will only give u the location of the BTS tower that communicating with
your mobile phone hidden in your car. So, again do not compare this idea
to that of real GPS stuff. Real GPS need $$$$...every month, whereas this
one only need RM0.15 + RM0.30 = RM0.45 per tracking.
3) Not only we can track our car when it is lost, we can also track
our car at any time when we park our car at a secluded area for a long
time to make sure that our car is still there.
4) I have hide a phone in my car and it works beautifully. I get
peace of mind whenever I leave my car at a car park for a long time cos I
can check my car whenever I feel like it. For example, if u park your car
at midvalley, then u will get a msg that your car is at
midvalley.
5) Now hotlink prepaid starter has reduced to RM10 per starter.

actually your idea very good... It is already implement by most of the
vehicle tracking company...

Your idea are working with GSM and GPRS, which more to IBTS station
locations.. It can pinpoint to the vehicle to the nearest IBTS station as
far as 100m ... but there are weakness in it...

FYI: you idea is selling with the most vehicle tracking company for extra
RM2000.. good idea from you..

While the normal vehicle tracking, it using the satelite frequency or
GPS, which less can pinpoint the vehicle, the most can goes is 1km...

hi all,

i've been following this treat quite some time, i think this is workable!!

but 1 question that i wanna ask; even thou our lost car has been tracked,
what can we do next?? if we make a police report, say that we tracked our
car and knowing that its on the plus highway, do u think that they
(police) will take any action?

or, is there any other way that we can stop the stolen car???

thanks!!

and have a nice.....long....week end!!

i just put in a v-guard into my t.wish one month ago. insurance agent/co
told me better to do so as t.wish is top of car theft list. also, the new
program from v-guard is the best rate with national recovery service from
their own security company, don't have to rely on police only. also got
good rate from insurance co. they have this program call smart-recovery.
i find it very good. in fact, my friends also install for their t.wish.
you check it out at www.gpstech.com.my. stay safe and have a good weekend.

hi ezrider,

this means that we still need to pay for thousands of dollars for V-guard,
instead of the 20 bucks tracking device (coz, even if we know where is our
car now, but we still cannot get it back)?

sifu(s), please comments!

thanks, and happy Deparaya!!

bro aeewantu26, what to do? I pay RM2k for v-guard. I do not think the 20
bucks tracking device can help us...no offence. once car is immobilize,
we need to track and find back our car, right? or else what's the point?
still, i check around and the v-guard gps tracking special promotion is
the best. happy deeparaya and cheers!

yeah, just put in vguard for my t wish. my insurance co said i have to as
wish is no 1 on car theft list. so i check around and the smart-recovery
packaeg by vguard is not bad. also i get to this 12 months no interest
payment on my maybank credit card. most important is can track and
recover my car.

Gentlemen, if money is not an issue, by all means buy the best Guard or
whatever Guard money can buy for your car.
But if u r on shoestring budget, than use the factory fitted standard car
alarm and apply the above low cost GSM tracking idea for added security.
Now only cost u RM10 to buy a hotlink sim card. This is the cheapest
supplementary car security system which utilise existing celco GSM
service. Only 45cts per tracking, why wouldn't u make use of it ???. My
car was fitted with immobilisor, but i added above GSM tracking idea
into my car because it cost me practically nothing.
GPS or GSM tracking do not protect the car from stolen. It merely allow u
to track the whereabout of the car.

As for aeewantu26 question:
"but 1 question that i wanna ask; even thou our lost car has been
tracked,
what can we do next?? if we make a police report, say that we tracked our
car and knowing that its on the plus highway, do u think that they
(police) will take any action?

or, is there any other way that we can stop the stolen car???"

Well.. there’s a will, there’s a way. The tracking will tell u at which
Kilometer your car is traveling at the highway, just call the police
nearby to wait at the toll plaza. Police is always an efficient law
enforcement force if u know how to talk to them. or
At the least, u know ur car is smuggled to Thailand if the last tracking
tells u your car is in Bukit Kayu Hitam or Rantau Panjang. As chances for
recovery is very slim for stolen cars smuggled into thailand, u can buy a
new replacement car immediately without the need to wait for 6 months
lost car confirmation from Insurance companies.
