need to do some R&D on the other "possibilities". May work...

get a phone with java capability. Write a java app(to run in the
background) to interface with the ECU trough some serial connection or
something. So, when you make a phone call, press the option button to
accept/decline certain functions of the car.

Far fetch but this is because there is no proper R&D AND we are just
talking about it here(NATO, No Action, Talk Only)... but nothing is
impossible. i've seen a friend of mine who's expert in smart-card
(GEMS)/pda doing programming modules where he can automate lots of stuffs
through the smart-card.

don't be too pessimistic. i find this idea is very "original" from a
normal ppl like us.

hi all,

been using this 'invention' for a few days adi....i think its just
compatiple to those thousand-dollars GSM devices, furthermore its more
flexible, and it worth a try...just an additional add-on for ur car
security maaa....cheaper than a good car stearing lock..

happy CNY....

Im glad u have done it. Please pass word around to your friends and
family. I have been helping more that 30 friends to set up this cheap GSM
tracking system into their cars.
So guys, don't trade in your old phone for a mere RM50 off the new phone.
Keep them for this purpose. The old phone is worth RM1000 to RM2000 if u
convert it to GSM Tracking device. And who knows, it may help to recover
your stolen car which worth even more money.

Wow....I've been thinking about this idea before however with an add-ons.
How about setting the handphone for caller ringtone specifically to the
owner's number. So the hp will only ring when being called by the owner.

Ok, here come the technical part. De-assemble the speaker of the phone.Take
out the +ve and -ve wires and connect to a transistor (NPN). The transistor
is used to control the grounding of a 12V DPDT relay. The 12V relay is used
to control the ignition connection at the Normally-Closed setup.Once the
relay being activated by transistor<-voltage of speaker, the
normally-closed relay will change to normal-open connection thus cutting of
the ignition connection.

so once you call the number of hp located in your car. It should cut off
the power to the ignition system.

Adding to the aeiou228 idea, cheap tracking device +
immobilizer...hehehehe and dont forget to disable the warning sound of low
battery and assign silent for SMS, etc.....u dont want your car to stop in
the middle of driving hehehehehe

it is just theoretical never tried before....but it is a future project as
I'm just graduated with no job to buy my own car...hehehehehe PEACE :) I
LOVE DIY

Someone should do this as a business. Buy back old phones, put in a nice
box and fix it for "customers" for RM300-500 (seems reasonable). Anybody
wants to start?

Good idea, but the speaker wires is AC signal, not DC. Becareful because
if someone accidentally call the wrong number, and your ignition/petrol
pump cut off, accident will happen.

I think just hide the hp in the car and charge it twice a week should be
good enough.
