What I know is that it's a bargain at RM99k for manual. The CBU 1.5 auto
costs RM89k, so really banging my head on the wall about this.

Hi Nazirmz,

I think that it is a good buy as well since you are getting CBU quality
with goodies like ESP thrown in. The only qualm i have is that it has 5
gears only. Even a fiat panda sport has 6 gears albeit only 100HP. I have
read some reviews showing that the gear ratio is too short for cruising.
So, for example, at fifth gear running at 120kmh, the RPM will be at 4000.

nazir,

99K is for the 1.6L MT w/o insurance. OTR, it would be 104K (MT) and 108K
(AT). Wink

And the Lancer GT 2.0L (AT & paddle shift) is 116K with insurance. 18"
rim/tyre combo. With this kind of competition I think the Swift Sport
must be priced at 95K (MT) and 98K (AT) or Suzuki Malaysia won`t be
selling any. Big Smile

I still like to get the SS, but I`m in no hurry. Maybe I`ll get lucky and
they reduce the price.

well, SS is for the swift enthusiasts. If you compare directly between
these 2 cars of course lancer will win in terms of package value. The SS is
targeted at people who wants something small and simple yet fun to drive,
with loads of power(reasonable for price) at their disposal. Even the bog
standard 101 bhp 1.5 auto is very much fun to drive, I can't imagine a
125bhp 1.6 MT.

Personally, I'd recommend SS to those people who like VW Golf GTi but would
not pay its price.

guys,
while we're on the topic ...
1/ is the price finalised ? last I heard, they were supposed to make some
announcement this month (August) on the SS model, especially the price ?
2/ what about delivery, any ideas on the time line for delivery; i.e. what
have the Sales Assistants been promising ?
3/ lastly, is there an outlet that I can test the SS model ? drooling to
test one ... it's been long overdue! it was supposed to be out Q4 06 i
thought ?!

Probably Q1 2008. It seems Suzuki Malaysia is concentrating on the CKD
1.5L for now.

Since there is no car I won`t bother with the pricing. Moot. Smile
