Last year I put the Performance Cam ( Fast road only ) and piping.
Not so bad laa.. the performance.

same with Wira.

for daily use.
What do think Verne?

A MIVEC head conversion is good bang for buck in terms of performance. Pay a visit to
Spoon Sports in SS3... the can do a MIVEC head conversion for you using your 1.8 block.
One day's work. Only RM3.5K...better than buying a MIVEC 1.6 block which would set up
back at least RM6K. Comes with ECU, wiring, extractor, and etc...
I'm just gonna get the normal DOHC head first..., then increase compression by installing a
thinner metal head gasket. Probably fast road cams later la...
Go ahead and do the MIVEC head!

I had a thought of replacing my engine with a DOHC earlier by I
aborted the idea due to budget contraint. How much would it cost to
replace the SOHC head with DOHC head. What about the ECU and reliability
The Recaro seat that I have found did not come with a rear seat (the
foldable, 60/40 split unit) unlike the one installed in Wira/Putra 1.8
EXi DOHC. That's why I didn't buy those seats. I guess my other option
is to get a pair of front recaro seats and get the cushion shop to match
the rear seat with the front ones.

Do you have any experience about realibility Mivec after convert for daily
Because, my wife also drive this car.Spoon Sport in SS3, where is it?
I'm staying in Keramat AU3 in Ulu Klang.
Which one Dohc that you wanna get ? 4G91 or 4G93 ?
4G93 Dohc very hard to find. 4G91 very easy to find at kedai potong and
Before this, I'm also think to go for Dohc. But very hard to 4G93 Dohc
engine head. Many mechanic that I talked, they said have to change ECU in
term of performance. Because Persona ECU Rev limited only 6,500 rpm only
compared to another 1.8 Dohc - 7,500rpm. Somemore they Qoute me the price
arround RM2000. Better I dump another $$$$ to get Mivec System with more

Also, I think the Distributor place is different.Maybe have to change
wiring or mods the wiring. In term of realibility and performance, my
mech say it better to get the whole 1.8 Dohc engine head, wiring, ECU, TB,
inlet manifold and somemore timing belt. Then it will be fine
Correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm still waiting for expert answers on that. I'm about to buy a 1.8 DOHC head, but need to
check on extras which I may or may not need to purchase together with the head. If it
comes up to too much, I'll save up and get a MIVEC head instead!
You are right about the distributor, and the timing belt definitely needs to be changed as it
Will post when I get news on the head.
Reliability-wise should be ok, it really depends on how you drive. If you redline all the time,
don't expect a long life for your engine. For real performance, get better aftermarket
conrods. The high-compression MIVEC has caused engines to blow up from broken
conrods, once or twice!

Just wondering, do you guys have or know anybody with wiring diagram
for our Persona. Coz last time when I compared my engine bay and my
wife's wira 1.8 SOHC (local spec), they look a bit different. And I
notice that mine got extra fuse, wiring etc.
Few mechanics didn't dare touch my car coz they were unfamiliar with
What's your average fuel consumption for your Persona? I can barely
pass 250 miles (270 miles if I drive on highway) for RM 54.00 of fuel.
But I remember my wife's car could pass even 550km on highway, and hers
were auto. Not sure whether i need to do something else on my car to
improve the fuel consumption.

From K/L- Sg. Petani, Kedah.
If I drive arround 180/200kph in Highway sure in Kuala Kangsar I have one
more tank again fuel. But not many times I drive like this, I 'm scared
man....just to test the only.
Sometimes, fuel consumption is subjective it depends how the stlye of
driving- your right foot + pedal.
