Agreed. Not worth it. For one, you would be purchasing old stock, which
may give you savings up front today, but when it comes time to sell, the
year of manufacture will kick in, not the year of sale, resulting in
awful resale.

As an ex-owner, the Putra engine is one great drive, but its flimsily put
together and too old school for new year money. Get a modern Toyota.

i don't understand why some of you think so much about resale value. for
me, if i like the car, no matter how bad the resale value, i'll still go
for it. i'm the 1997 putra(M) owner. i love this car so much. have a
chassis rigidity like a 2doors car but also long wheel-base like saloon
car which give u a high speed stability. on stock, i'll hit 160km/h in
only 600m distance and achieve it's top speed of 210km/h in less than 2km
distance from stop. do u believe that even BMW 520i E60 can't beat it on
top-speed?? tested already. FC also very wise. for manual one, it's a lot
better than wira 1.5 (A). 500km on highway only need about 40liters of
fuel. so, what more can u expect from a made in malaysia car? i think,
this is the best proton ever built. just my 2cents...

>>> The fragile and old school 4G93 DOHC puts out 133hp for a 1.8 engine.
Which modern Toyota sold in Malaysia apart from the Camry puts out the same
power? Even then it's still mated to an automatic and nothing short of the
3.0V6 has any chance of outrunning a manual Putra.

but dun forget that almost 80 percent of this car is Mitsubishi....the 3/4
of the car is exactly a Mitsubishi Mirage Coupe (except for the front).

agree with nuggyn...
around 80% of this car is mitsubishi... that's make it "the best proton
ever built..."
