Sigh... you might as well ask for comments on the Subaru Imprezza WRX
STi, asking for comments on this specific model is pretty pointless
unless you manage to get a sportscar enthusiast... like me, lol.
The "S204" is based on the Subaru Imprezza WRX STi GDB Spec C... gosh, so
many words... and is considered a "special version". The special JDM
versions are S202, S203 (2004) and S204 (2005).
It should have slotted brakes - if I remember what my friend told me
correctly, and Volk 17" rims. It has some slight body-kit differences
but is otherwise a JDM-Spec GDB Spec C.
Please note that the GD is about 200KGs heavier than the previous GC
chasis (GC = 1260kg).
I have never driven a GDB but the opinions of those who own one is very
good. In terms of power, crash safety and chasis, the GDB is a class-A
car. Whenever I meet one on the Genting uphill, its pretty pointless
trying to contest it in my FC.
In terms of cornering potential, the GDB's chasis stiffness and firm
suspension completely defeats my FC except on high speed corners.
Interesting note is that the Evos seem to corner sharper than the
Imprezzas at the same mind blowing speed.

yeah.. actually true... nobody talks about subaru in this forum albeit
growing popularity...
Growing popularity because EON jacked up the price of EVO 9 from RM245k
(old grey importer price) to RM277k even without warranty. You can buy a
new subaru STI ver 9 for rm230k-rm240k which is actually what the EVO 9
price should be.
Many grey importers said they cannot bring in Mitsu EVO cars because EON
managed to make MITI stop issuing APs to import Mitsu cars to others. So
EON would have a monopoly on its business... just like what many other
local companies thrive on...
Typical of anti-competitive policies that make malaysia so un-
competitive...

abuga,
Thanks for the feedback. You are driving an FC? Albeit old car, I think
it is still a good car. Maintenance might be a bit on the high side
though.:). GDB? Mine telling me what stands for?

GC8 = chasis code for the subaru Imprezza WRX STi 1992 - 2000.
GDB = chasis code for the subaru Imprezza WRX STi 2001 - present.
Basically, you are looking at two significantly different cars between
these chasis.
Like comparing FC3S and FD3S RX7s.
Note:
Chasis code for Subaru Imprezza non-STi JDM - GDA. USDM - GDF

impreza, my dream car since late possum bourne was the king of malaysian
palm estate.
btw my ride is caldina GT4, had to settle down with it coz its suits my
wife better. But to me impreza S204 is the best of spec C. get it by all
means if u can afford it. This is my reference of my cousin's version 8 STi
to nqsh,
any subaru owners out there who can share the experience?
1) Worth the ownership?
totally worth it! always smiling!
2) Worth the asking price?
Not worth in Malaysia. But u live here so?? Irrelevant question.
Remember RM2XXK is just a number.
3) Reliability?
Reliable if u dont touch the internal, any bolt-on add-on must be fully
understandable, and controllable by YOU! Basically u must know the stuff
4) Fuel Consumption?
??? hello it's an Impreza, turbo, 4 wheel drive... what do you expect.
Irrelevant. FC best buy H City laaaa. Neway, RM50 take you 200km worst
I've heard. His is 240-270km/RM50.
5) Ride quality?
??? U mean ride comfort? Stiffest for S204. Want comfort buy Camry
the boaty la.
But mind u it's meant for the corners, but EVO is
sharper.
6) Maintenance cost?
??? aiyoh!!! What to do, Malaysia maaa, everything marked up 1.
When u park it in front accessory shop they already
mark-up the price, heheh. Just maintain it as per
manual, no unwanted incident will happen. U want estimation? Put aside
RM200-300 per month lah... for safe. If nothing happen then smile
again laa
well, if u dont want problem, just buy it and leave it alone, (only remove
the Speed Cut) and follow religiously what the manual said. that's all.
Hey it's S204 For God Sake!! How many percentage out there want to cucuk u
if u drive it? I also dont want. 320hp on engine, surely it's more than
240HP on wheels (always minus 30-40%)
EVO is too common. Not mentioning the wannabes. No heart feeling.

Baal,
You're just newbie
j/k j/k
I'm a sportscar enthusiast ler, so read and hear people talking. I heard
a lot from the owners on the tracks in Oz.
I've tried Version 3 STI and LanEvo 6.5. Those two cars cannot properly
compare coz the GC8 V3 is 2 years older. IMO GC8 V3 had strong
understeer and you have to take a very wide line through corners.
Because of my driving style, I prefer Evo over scoobie.

1) Worth the ownership?
If you love sportscars and you love driving, yes.
2) Worth the asking price?
If you lived in Australia, the price would be reasonable. But you live
in Malaysia so the price is UN-reasonable.
3) Reliability?
Yes.
4) Fuel Consumption?
Very. I think 8 km to the litre.
5) Ride quality?
Its not a BMW or Merc so expect it to be quite hard.
6) Maintenance cost?
Oil, oil filter, petrol... and tires if you're like me.
specialist to recommend?
There are a number of people who can work on boxer engine. In KL,
Sunway, Subang USJ, PJ, Rawang, Klang... better ask an owner.
