No lah...if I afford buy S40; I'm sure driving a S2000 liou. Just comment
tat S40 is the most sporty Volvo line up just the engine not tat sporty
to match it's looks.

U mean how much is the cost or mileage? If mileage; some said 3k n some
said 5k km. For cost; sorry dont know. U may check at Zerotohundred
forum...there is RE club which have a lot RX owner can answer your
question.

stock wise (S2K, F20 or earlier version) if driven hard it will be handful for novice. this is
corrected when honda launched the F22 S2K (S2K 2.2L).

it quite a roar with aftermarket exhaust.Big Smile

hi bro coolnick, m from PJ..luv car as much as u...luv those Japanese
sportcar too..

thinking of Caldina one time like you thought..but the price too high to
me..so now i'm joining the old turbo bricks conti which can easily hit
200KPH with 180HP on wheel (>220HP on engine man!)..price wise very
reasonable (4 caldina price)..I luv it man!

Hope to see you someday and share u my new toy!

Well, the bad thing is the low torque is bad consider a roadster with
250bhp. But I like it which can rev 9k rpm at stock condition. How many
engine can rev so high. N it is totally a drivers car. Not for you to
impress your family members. Low ride & stiff suspension.

SO prepare to get scold by your wife or gf when u bring them out.
Well, it much better than MR-S and less expensive the close rival Z4
which not everyone cup of tea (u know the tax of Europe car lah in
Malaysia). 3.0liter for high spec (road tax...haih) and even the
electronic roof not as fast as S2k. (Find the top gear episod which they
got compare S2K, Boxster & Z4) Although the S2k is the slowest in their
Top gear test track. I still like it.

Roar up 9k rpm is the fun part. Even the design is 1999 but up to now
still look very fresh compare other model which been to few complete
model change.

As for sudden spin...it happen to all FR car...where we still not so
familiar with the car character n push very hard. Dont forget FR much
easy oversteer. Well, cant help it if u got carry away by the 9k rpm
stuff...u know wat i mean. Besides, the S2K using L.S.D n not those VSA
or TCS. So novice should be more careful to push the S2k hard...until u
got the skill to tame the 250bhp/ps (not so sure) i-VTEC engine.

Well, for 2003 model selling at RM 140k above (recon or 2nd hand)...I
think it quite affordable. Like all those JDM cars..u need to worry the
spare parts only. So dont think to crash your Caldina, RX-8, 350Z n
etc...sure cost u a bom on your pocket.

Coolznick,

Consider carefully:
1. what are you looking for?
2. How much balance between power-handling-comfort?

The 4 cars you listed are quite different from each other in many aspects:
1. RX8:
Power - 240HP, rotary NA
Handling - FR, very responsive chasis
Comfort - quite good tho somewhat stiff

2. DC5:
Power - 220HP (?), amazing KA20 engine
Handling - FF though one of the better FF cars
Comfort - average, equivalent to regular car

3. S15:
Power - 240HP, turbo power, increase boost to make 300++HP
Handling - FR, this is top 3 drift car so it handles very very well
Comfort - just above average for stock, old though

4. 350Z:
Power - 287HP, VQ30DE engine wins awards every year
Handling - FR, very well behaved rear end, heavy so its quite solid
Comfort - above average for stock, weight helps dampen vibration but
suspension is stiff on some trim models

5. Caldina ST246 GT-4:
Power - est 247HP, venerable 3S-GTE, turbo can be dialed for more power
Handling - its a "pure sports wagon"... how to compare the above??? AWD
ensures even idiots dont crash on cornering
Comfort - its a wagon with sporty suspension but due to low ride, it
doesnt sway as much as most wagons

Please do not compare a Caldina with the rest. I dont care how much you
tune the Caldina, its not a sports car.

I agree with koolspyda - if you want the best balance of power-handling-
comfort, the best car in your list is the 350Z.

My personal benchmark for power-handling-comfort is the BMW E36 M3.

Coolznick,

this is the third thread regarding choosing a sportscar.

Are you planning to get one and who is paying?

The best way to choose a car is to set a budget and then get out to the
show rooms or call sellers to arrange test drives.

Talk doesnt get you anywhere. Actually holding the wheel and driving the
car will tell you what's best. Particularly if you do not know exactly
what you are looking for.

yes yes, all talk & no play wont get you anywhere!! Big Smile

too many chups quote magazines articles (some ambiguous) & write ups without knowing what
those drivers are implying.

Big number horse power isnt everything, then again it good for boasting at bar clubs.

anyone for a touge this weekend? Big SmileBig Smile
(likely a midship & a S2K)

Coolznick,

you should go Big Smile and experience MRS and S2K as a passenger at least.
