Hello all,

Thinking of getting a used, well-engineered car for domestic use.

I like Skodas, as they are basically watered-down VWs.

Used Skodas are so cheap nowadays, especially the Fabia. Problem is, where can one bring a Skoda to service in KL? Seems like Skodas are no longer represented in Malaysia....

Advice pls, thx smile_thumbup.gif

Ah thank you guys smile_thumbup.gif

Skodas are still on sale here? There's ZERO promotions and ads for Skodas...I thought they are gone already.

Skodas has good potential if priced below VW's here....hope they come back seriously...Skodas are good good cars.. smile_approve.gif

Need your opinions...do you think the Fabia is a good buy? I know it looks mega dull, but underneath that boring and dumpy exterior, it's a well-engineered German/Czech car.. (Sorry Kenso, I asked you the same question in your nice blog... smile_blush.gif )

I drove a Fabia for a couple of years. Solid and dependable car. Good buy provided the unit is well cared for.

Their HQ in glenmarie is still running. I went there a couple of times this past week. Currently, they're only selling Octavia VRS & the Superb. The Octavia VRS (maybe 2011/2012 showroom car) is currently on offer for RM130k (originally 190k i guess). I saw many Skodas being sent for service, Fabias/Octavias/Superbs. I was attended by a mechanic and he said they allow us to bring our own (cheaper OEM) parts from outside. You can buy (wear & tear) parts from a Audi/VW/Skoda parts shop in Jalan Ipoh. Some Audi/VW Specialist shop also have parts and can service Skodas. I know one in PJ and another at Balakong.

Oh, there's one interesting rumour. The Skoda SA told me that DRB is currently on talks with Berjaya to buy off Skoda.

Just send my skoda to them for timing belt replacement yesterday.

Don't worry about the part for mtn at DP auto. As for second hand fabia, better get the car with full service record with DP auto or autopraha previously.

Thanks guys for the great inputs. Now very confident on getting parts and repairs if needed. smile_thumbup.gif

Skoda really deserves a chance with a decent distributor here...the only new Skoda I saw was a blue Roomster in Jalan Klang Lama. Besides that, it's mostly old Octavias and a few Fabias..

Like i said before, it made sense for the same people who bought in VW to take over Skoda's distributorships too, like what Naza did by combining Peugeot and Citroen. They are basically the same mechanically! If the new funky Fabias are priced below the Polo, and the new Octavias are priced below the Passats, then it will sell in decent numbers.. smile_tongue.gif
