CVT's with wet clutches (ours) are much more efficient than the ones with torque converter. With the converter you have an indirect connection between engine and transmission. With clutches it is direct. CVT driving needs some getting used to, but once you understand it a bit better you will enjoy it much more than a regular AT. You can make smooth driving by closing the clutch veeery slow, but if the driver applies a lot of trottle it means he wants to move... and fast! so we close the clutch fast, as it should. I think overall the exora with CVT is smooth and as i drive (sometimes very fast) i don't experience this jerk, just "feel" the car and things will be OK!

saw your email in the autoworld forum and saw that you are customer care manager for punch in kl. I am an exora bold owner, and i just wanted to tell you that i am currently very happy with my ride; the cvt gb suits the car well, the car doesnt struggle. all in all, im very very happy.

Thanks for your patient and alway reply our question in very details. I think i undertsand what you had explained about the application of wet clutch, will try change my driving style/method to used to it.

I can hear when allpying very little throttle, moving slowly, once you accelerate faster it's gone. I wouldn't worry about it.

I finally have my Exora last week and been driving it for couple of days. I was previously driving City before this car. Maybe this car is still new (<200km) and i do notice few minor differences between Exora CVT and City CVT:
1) The pickup is a bit slow. Is this due to the weight of the car? Unless i press further on the pedal, i can feel a sudden surge of power coming from the engine.
2) When the car comes to a stop (during the slow down/deceleration), i can hear a very obvious humming sound. If i switch to neutral, this noise will go away instantly. The noise is also obvious when the car is downhill with engine braking.
3) For once, when i was leaving my apartment car park, at a turning, the car was jerking, as the feeling was like the gear dis-engage and engage again when i press the pedal after the turn.
Overall, i am still very happy with the smoothness offered by the CVT during acceleration. Could you advise if these are something normal to a new car? Thanks!

Mine almost 850km now.
1. It is normal. Also experienced the same thing, but as I was driving Wira A/T before, the pickup of CFE is good. The power is sufficient when the turbo kick in.
2. Humming sound, it is normal, sound of the turbo kicking in. A bit annoying at first but I begin to appreciate it.
3. No experience so far.
For 80k car, for me not bad. Your just need to get use to the size during driving and parking.
Need to rectify the following during first service.
1. Back left door alignment. A bit difficult to close.
2. No sound after 3 minutes from HU if play DVD from roofplayer unit.

1. ya..i am trying to familiarize how much i need to press the pedal to move the car....

2. it is when i am decelerating. i don't think turbo will kick in during that time. Anyhow, my SA told me this is normal. That is engine and CVT noise when rev above 2k rpm. I was comparing with City and she said there is no way to compare with the smaller size of CVT used in City. i can accept that if it is norm. Just wanna make it is not some kind of defects which needs immediate attention.
3. I experienced once only. so far it does not repeat again. Anyhow today only the 5th day

on your advices:
1. When u said difficult to close the doors(or only left door? front or back), can u describe further how difficult it that?
2. I have yet to turn on the DVD player...will try it asap.
Anyone has any idea how to reduce the engine/CVT noise? any DIY insulation that we can do?

1) door alignment should be easy to adjust, just use screwdriver to adjust the contact part.
2) u mean no sound after 3mins after both channel frequency alr sync?
