Beginning of 4th Week:

The air conditioning is beginning to blow warm air. Started noticing this last night as I was travelling home from Ara Damansara. When usually it's a blizzard in the cabin, now it's like Malaysian politicians. (Blowing hot air.. geddit? geddit? smile_tongue.gif ) Me thinks a visit to Ah Meng Jln Tar is inevitable now. smile_disapprove.gif

Pumped another full tank last night at BHP. RM102.60 / circa 44 liters @ RM2.30. Let's see how far I can squeeze from this tankful. Fingers crossed smile_approve.gif

To do list:
Air-con
Tint
Car alarm
ICE

4th week - Mid week workshop visit

Really 'beh tahan' the warm cabin so called Sham this morning to see if I can drop by and let him have a look at my car. My intention was to let him identify the problem and get ready the replacement parts for my visit on the coming Saturday.

Arrived at around 10.20am. Sham was just opening his shop. Had a quick look into the engine bay. Fiddled abit around the engine bay. Brought out the refrigerant for a refill. Let the engine idled a while.

Then, "Bro.. paip sini leaking la. Tengok." and proceeded to put his hand on the leaking culprit. Ah... so it was just a leaking pipe. "You guna dulu. Sampai hari Sabtu you datang tukar terus la." the sifu said. smile_approve.gif Who am I to argue...

Till Saturday then.. smile_tongue.gif

5th week - 17/11/2014

As scheduled earlier, I paid EXD a visit on Sat (15/11/2014) to fix my air con. Mana tau, the moment I left my house, the red battery icon in the instrument cluster lighted up. Car was sluggish, the air con was blowing hot, the windows were reluctant to wind down. I quickly headed to the nearest workshop down the road to find out the problem. Had my fingers crossed that it's just the battery and not the alternator. smile_disapprove.gif

ADA (That's my car's name cos her number plate says so) decided to display the classic case of doctor-phobia. You know, the one where everything is fine when the doctor visits and problem becomes evident when the doctor has left? The mechanic tested the battery with a volt meter thingy and declared that the battery was charging ok. 13.8 - 14 was what it read. Drove straight to EXD after that. smile_angry.gif

Reached EXD around 10:30am. Told Sham about the problem. He checked the car and told me it's time to change the alternator because it's just a matter of time before it fails. In deciding which was more important between the alternator and the air con, Sham advised to change the alternator cos the air con is still working. smile_thumbup.gif

Had it changed for RM400 (recon) inclusive of labour. It took 3.5 hours including the time waiting for the spare parts to arrive and Sham fixing a bit of other cars. Took delivery of my car around 2pm. smile_approve.gif

Note: The car immediately felt more alive. Not sure if it was my butt dyno or the car received a new lease of life via stronger sparks or what, but me likey!! smile_clown.gif

Oh Yes. The current tankful of petrol lasted 440km. Just pumped at BHP another full tank for RM110 for 47.8 liters@RM2.30/l

Next Project:- Air Con

smile_angry.gif I'm hot. Air con was fine up until I got to the office. When I wanted to drive out for lunch, it decided to give up the ghost. Dem Blardee HOT!!!!!

Drove to EXD this morning to let Sham diagnose the problem. Our friend went to Kuantan. smile_disapprove.gif No choice but to bear the heat until Thursday when he comes back. Moral of the Story: Call FIRST before going.

Last tankful - 380kms

Midweek report: 26/11/2014

As I stopped at the NPE TnG lane to tag my card, the air con decided to come back to life. All in good time too cos it was raining heavily and fogging up the windows in the car. Kinda dangerous driving like that. smile_tongue.gif Cold air.. leganya saya...

7th Week (30/11/2014)

Called up Sham on Sat morning to check if he was around. Luckily I did as he was on his way to Kuantan again. This time to save another car in distress. So no visit to EXD as planned but I still needed to fix the air con fixed. In my research before buying the ZX, I found a list of workshops to visit in case of ZX-related trouble. Under air con was the name Ah Ming. Jadi, saya pun panggil sifu ini. smile_tongue.gif

His shop is right behind the Honda showroom along Chow Kit/Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman. I thought to myself, "Hey, I know that place. It's the Kin Kin Pan Mee shop." And off I went to find it.

Took me an hour of blistering heat and stuffy drive there. Yes. The air con didn't blow. smile_angry.gif When I got there, our friend's workshop was swamped with cars. Man.. these sifu's are always so busy. Ah Ming didn't even have time to look at me when I sorta mouse around his shop. Only when I greeted him did he acknowledge me." Dem lansi also ar this fler" was what I thought. smile_blackeye.gif

Long story short. He finally took some time off to check my car (after about 20 minutes of me pacing in and out of his shop). The culprit for the non-functioning air con is the regulator found underneath the glovebox. It's attached to a fan-like part. He took a short length of wire to link 2 ori ones. Said it'll help lengthen the lifespan of my blower wor. smile_question.gif No only did the air con started to blow, I can now change the fan speed too. Woo Hoo... smile_thumbup.gif He was actually chatting with me the entire time he was working on my car. Very nice chappie actually. Just that he look... ermm... bengis. smile_blush.gif

Regulator + Labour = RM280 (money well spent)
Time: 20 minutes dismantling and changing the part.

Last tankful - 460kms
Pumped a full tank: RM117.40 for 51 liters (RM2.30 per liter)

XtasCie, having fun with the car?

smile_tongue.gif

I had my aircond fixed at Ah Ming's place. It was just a simple fix, nothing major. The compressor clutch didn't engage. Just a small adjustment to the compressor clutch solved the problem.

So you bring your car to Syam's place. I was there yesterday for a service - changed engine oil.
All along I'm using 10-40 engine oil since my ownership in Feb 2007. No issues.

It is about time for me to change the timing belt.
Where you got the timing belt kit from? What brand?

9th week (12/12/2014)

Previous tankful - 430km
New tank - RM98

The FC is really dependent on my right foot. Have to restrain myself from enjoying too much along the NPE cos higher levels of ecstasy equals to a thirstier car. smile_disapprove.gif

Gonna do an oil change tomorrow at EXD Auto. Will probably ask Sham to check my suspension cos there are some mystery knocking sounds.

Nugget: So far so good. smile_thumbup.gif No major complaints. Am still trying to learn more about the car and where to get certain parts. For eg, I removed the rear spoiler leaving 4 holes to be filled. Am gonna do some DIY this weekend time permitting and see if I can get it back on again correctly. Having just screws and no nuts to hold them in place takes a bit of brain exercise. smile_approve.gif

Timing belt eh? I'm ashamed to admit that I didn't pay attention to the name on the packaging when Sham was performing the change. Will ask him tomorrow to verify.

Good updates & I admire your enthusiasism. I recalled the many trips to EXD, spare parts shop & Ming Wah during my active ownership of ZX.
Good to see many ZX still terrorizing the roads & highways.

Enjoy your ride.
Nothing moves you like a Citroen.

10th week (16-12-2014)

Did an oil change at EXD. Used Shell Helix HX7 10-40w (RM85 from Tesco Extra). Oil filter and labour = RM40.

Sham mentioned that my car engine is 'makan minyak' smile_disapprove.gif Cos the amount of oil that came out for the change is less than what was poured in. Actually I noticed this when the little red light started to blink randomly at the engine temp gauge. I stopped by a petrol station to check and when I pulled out the dipstick, the oil was well below the minimum mark. That was on a Thursday(11/12/2014).

Anyone knows how much to rectify this problem? Sham did say it's gonna be a 3-4 days job.
