Toyota announces airbag special service campaign for 97,000 cars

Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) is expanding its special service campaign to address the issue of the possibility of the improperly manufactured front side passenger and driver front airbag inflators in several Toyota models that can potentially rupture resulting in abnormal airbag deployment in a crash.

UMW Toyota Motor has received confirmation from TMC that there are approximately 97,000 units of the Camry, Corolla Altis, Vios, Yaris and RAV4 sold in Malaysia and manufactured between the year 2001 and 2007 are involved in this campaign.

All affected customers will be contacted by UMW Toyota for the special service campaign to carry out the necessary corrective measures with defective inflators to be replaced with newly manufactured units at no charge to the owner.

No other Toyota and Lexus models sold by UMW Toyota Motor produced before 2001 and after 2007 are affected by this campaign.
