New Land Rover Malaysia Branch Opens in Ipoh
Land Rover Malaysia has opened its 5th Sales and Service centre in Ipoh, Perak, following the recent openings in Butterworth and Johor Bahru, and their previous centres in Petaling Jaya and Kota Kinabalu.
According to Ali Shuib, Managing Director of Land Rover Malaysia, the program of expanding the network nationwide is driven by one overriding objective – to deliver outstanding customer satisfaction to its customers in Malaysia.
This increased focus on customer satisfaction has resulted partly from the fact that Land Rover was acquired by Ford and incorporated in its Premier Automotive Group (PAG) in 2000.
“As part of PAG, Land Rover has become obsessively focused on achieving outstanding customer satisfaction in all areas, from vehicle design and engineering, build quality and reliability, to after-sales and customer service,” revealed Encik Ali.
“Land Rover Malaysia aims to maintain its position in the Malaysian market as the premier 4×4 brand through its continued investment in customer service, and the infrastructure and resources necessary to achieve this,” he said.
As an example of adding value to its products, Encik Ali highlighted the current ‘CAREFREE’ Campaign which offers 3 years warranty as well as free scheduled maintenance servicing. “It’s an indication of the increased quality and reliability of Land Rover products,” he said.
The company has also been having sales events on Sundays where owners can offer their Land Rovers for sale as well as view new ones. On the Land Rover Malaysia website, a facility is also provided for owners to advertise their vehicles (Land Rovers only!) for sale.
While the market in Malaysia for prestige luxury automobiles remains relatively soft, Land Rover Malaysia remains committed to an ongoing investment programme encompassing an increased national network, technical training, state-of-the-art diagnostics and maintenance equipment, and improved customer service support and infra-structure.
“We anticipate the ‘soft conditions’ for luxury models to continue into 2003 but even then, we have seen steady and growing sales demand for the Freelander Td4 and Discovery Td5 Series II models. One of the reasons can be attributed to the price of the Td5 which has not changed since the model – now assembled at the same plant as Volvo cars in Shah Alam, Selangor – was introduced in 1999 and has a starting price of RM219,000,” added Encik Ali. “Compared to other medium-sized rivals, I believe the Discovery Td5 offers the best value and is more technologically advanced too.”
