Volkswagen global sales near 2 million units in Jan-Apr 2014
Volkswagen’s global passenger car sales for 2014 almost crossed the two million-unit threshold in the first four months of the year, with April sales hitting 513,400 units contributing to a grand total of 1.99 million units.
Year-on-year, these figures, which remarkably do not include other brands of the VW Group, represent increases of 6.8 and 4.6 percent respectively from the corresponding periods of 2013, which saw 480,900 units sold in April last year and 1.91 million units in the first four months.
“Volkswagen Passenger Cars grew deliveries yet again in April. On the one hand that is due to good sales developments in China and Europe, and on the other it is attributable to sustained high demand for products such as the Golf, now in the seventh generation of its 40-year history, where the success story continues”, Christian Klingler, Board Member for Sales and Marketing for the Volkswagen Group and the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand.
