Record-breaking sales again for Ford

Ford’s strong sales momentum continues with another record-breaking month in Malaysia. The Blue Oval recently closed its best-ever April performance with a total of 1,173 vehicles sold, up nearly 35 percent from the same month last year.

The April performance was driven by continued demand for its Ranger, Fiesta, Focus and Kuga nameplates. As usual, the Ranger leads the way as Ford’s most popular nameplate in Malaysia, selling 646 units in April adding up to a year-to-date tally of 2,365 units sold in 2014. Comparatively these numbers respectively represent a 38 and 37 percent increase from the comparative periods of 2013 – an impressive indication of increasing demand for the model.

Just as encouraging is similarly increasing demand of the Fiesta, which enjoyed a 20 percent year-on-year growth to deliver 301 units in April, all of them being the earlier-launched 1.5-litre Ti-VCT variants. Ford expects the more recently-introduced 1.0-litre EcoBoost variant to further drive sales momentum of the model through the rest of the year.

Other key sales contributors include the Focus, which sold 113 units in April adding to a year-to-date total of 427 units. The Kuga SUV, meanwhile, achieved April retail sales of 87 units, helping drive its year-to-date total to 301 units.

Ford continues to expand its nationwide dealership network to enhance customer convenience across the country, including the recent opening of a new, full-service dealer facility in Klang last week. The company remains on track to reach 50 authorised Ford dealer locations across Malaysia by year-end.
