Proton Reports Strong January 2024 Sales Performance

Carmaker, PROTON, kicked off 2024 with an impressive start, reporting its strongest January sales performance since 2013. According to the company sold, it 12,882 vehicles (domestic and export sales) and is the only brand to record better sales than December 2023, growing by 1.3%. In comparison, its January 2024 sales is 10.3% higher than January 2023.

In January, PROTON estimated its market share at 19.5%, a 3.3% improvement over the preceding month. This was achieved despite an industry-wide decline of 15.6% in Total Industry Volume (TIV) compared to December 2023. Proton S70_Tail Lights

With an order book of over 8,000 units, PROTON expects the recently introduced Proton S70 to maintain the company’s sales momentum. PROTON had delivered 1,442 units of the S70 in January. Furthermore, the Proton S70 will be launched this month in Brunei; it had already delivered 15 units there ahead of launch.

Meanwhile, its SUV models continue to dominate their respective segments. The Proton X50 leads the B-segment SUV market with 2,002 units sold in January, while the Proton X90 is the top-selling D-segment SUV (365 units). The Proton Saga however, remains a cornerstone in Proton’s portfolio. It started 2024 on a high note with 6,129 units sold, the biggest contributor to the company’s overall sales. Further, the Proton Iriz also saw a notable 7% increase in sales compared to December (523 units).
