Limited Edition Mitsubishi Triton – Phantom Plus Edition Launched
The Mitsubishi Triton – Phantom Plus Edition is now available for sale. This special edition Triton is however limited to only 1,000 units, and is only in one colour i.e. Jet Black Mica, to be consistent with its namesake.
Based on the Triton Premium variant, the Phantom Plus Edition comes with extra door moulding, red accented front and rear bumper garnish, sports bar in matte finish, tailgate assist, rear spoiler on the “Phantom” tailgate, and rugged wheel arch moulding. Contrasting the name of this urban lifestyle pickup truck is a set of roof-mounted LED lighting.
For the interior, the Mitsubishi Triton – Phantom Plus Edition sports sporty leatherette seats with red stitching and carpet mats with red trim. The 9″ touchscreen infotainment system comes with Apple CarPlay and is Android Auto ready. Said accessories are upgrades offered by Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia authorised dealers, along with a Driving Video Recorder.
Power to the wheels continue to be provided by a 2.4L MIVEC turbo diesel DI-D engine with VGT Intercooler. The engine is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission with Sport Mode and produces 181 PS @ 3,500 rpm and 430 Nm @ 2,500 rpm. The Easy Select 4WD system includes an off-road mode for different terrain i.e. Gravel, Sand, Mud/Snow, Rock. There is also Hill Descent Control that helps you regulate vehicle speed when manoeuvring down steep slopes. Like the flagship Triton Athlete, the Phantom Plus Edition uses 18″ gloss black alloy wheels but wrapped with Yokohama Geolander all-terrain tyres.
Safety equipment includes Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), Active Stability Control (ASC), Traction Control (TC), Rest Reminder, Hill Start Assist, and Trailer Stability Assist (TSA).
The limited run Mitsubishi Triton – Phantom Plus Edition has a retail price of (on the road for private registration sans insurance, in Peninsular Malaysia):

For comparison, the Triton Athlete is priced at RM146,600 and the Triton AT Premium at RM126,900. Additionally, the Triton – Phantom Plus Edition is covered by a 5-year or 200,000 km warranty.

As an aside, official distributor Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia sold 9,420 units of Triton for its last fiscal year i.e. April 2021 – March 2022. This is a 24% increase in sales for the brand compared to the previous year.
