Honda Malaysia Issues Recall For Year 1999 Accord And 2000 CR-V
Honda Malaysia has issued a product recall for 2,784 vehicles from 1999 Year Model and 2000 Year Model. The said Honda vehicles are required to replace* the Takata driver front airbag inflator as a preventive measure, in line with the global Honda Non-Azide Driver Airbag Inflator (NADI) recall. The 2,784 affected vehicles consists of 1,380 units of the 1999 Honda Accord and 1,404 units of 2000 Honda CR-V.
Honda deems this product recall necessary as a preventive measure to address the possibility of the Takata driver front airbag inflator having excessive internal pressure. This could cause the airbag to fail to function properly or to rupture.
Thus far, there have been no reports in Malaysia of any incident or injury involving the Takata driver front airbag in these particular ’99 Accord and ’00 CR-V.
The affected customers will be informed via notification letters, which will include details of the product recall. Honda Malaysia urges all affected customers to contact any Honda authorised dealer to make an appointment upon receipt of notification to replace the driver front airbag inflator subject to parts availability.
The company also encourages anyone who have relatives or friends who own either of these two models to get their relatives or friends to immediately contact Honda Malaysia and arrange for the driver front airbag replacement.
The replacement of the affected Takata drive front airbag inflator is free of charge and all cost related to this replacement activity will be borne by Honda Malaysia. The replacement stock will be available in stages.
