Proton e.Mas 7 EV Launched In Malaysia

PROTON, Malaysia’s national automotive brand, has launched the Proton e.Mas 7, its first-ever electric vehicle (EV), made in collaboration with Geely. PROTON & Geely engineers spent over 700,000 man-hours developing the latest model, which then underwent 100,000 km of testing across Malaysia’s diverse terrain and in harsh weather conditions.

Available in 2 variants i.e. Prime and Premium, the Proton e.Mas 7 starts at RM109,800 and RM123,800, respectively (Peninsular Malaysia). However, early birds get a special launch rebate which reduces these prices to RM105,800 (Prime) and RM119,800 (Premium). This is valid only for the first 3,000 buyers.

Performance And Specifications

The Proton e.Mas 7 is built on the Global Modular Architecture (GMA) platform and features an innovative 12-in-1 intelligent electric propulsion system. Built with a cell-to-body battery architecture, providing energy is the Aegis Short-Blade Battery, a new-generation lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery that is supposed to be safer, more efficient, and higher performance. The powertrain delivers 160 kW (215 hp) of power and 320 Nm of torque, enabling acceleration from 0 to 100km/h in 6.9 seconds. Additionally, the braking distance from 100km/h to a full stop is a mere 35 metres.

The Prime variant is equipped with a 49.52 kWh battery, offering a driving range of 345 km (WLTP), while the Premium variant features a larger 60.22 kWh battery, extending the range to 410 km. Both variants support DC fast charging, allowing a 30 – 80% charge in about 20 minutes, and regaining 135 km of range in just 10 minutes.

Design And Features

The e.MAS 7’s exterior design is available in 5 colours i.e. Platinum Silver, Turquoise Green, Slate Grey, Quartz Rose, and Lithium White, to emphasise its modern and neat silhouette. Inside, the EV boasts ventilated seats, ample legroom, and 33 storage compartments. The cabin is enhanced by a 16-speaker Flyme Sound system with WANOS technology, 256-colour ambient lighting system, and a 15.4″ touchscreen display with 2.5K resolution.

The advanced infotainment system includes an integrated charging map, showing locations of over 1,700 charging points nationwide. Collaborations with leading charge point operators like Gentari, JomCharge, chargEV, DC Handal, Carput Zap, ChargeSini and others ensure coverage across more than 85% of Malaysia, and enabling convenient electrified mobility.

Safety is also a key highlight of the Proton e.Mas 7, which is equipped with Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (L2-ADAS) and a 360-degree view camera. Its commitment to safety has earned this EV a 5-Star ASEAN NCAP rating.
