iMotorbike, the leading motorcycle platform in Southeast Asia specialising in buying and selling pre-owned motorcycles, shifted into high gear with the official opening of its expansive new showroom in Glenmarie, Shah Alam. This is a far cry from its humble beginnings in 2017, operating out of a modest apartment, and a 3,000 square foot store in Petaling Jaya. iMotorbike has rapidly expanded its presence, through its offering of a seamless online motorcycle purchasing experience. iMotorbike ensures quality through a 170-point inspection allowing it to offer a 6-day return policy, a 6-month warranty, and nationwide delivery. It also offers value-added options such as bundled finance, road tax, and insurance services.

“We are excited to launch our brand new landmark showroom in Shah Alam that is the first of its kind in Malaysia. We have one of the largest selections of pre-owned motorbikes on display for our customers to cater to the increasing demand for quality vehicles and service. The showroom also shows our continued commitment to helping build the pre-owned market in Malaysia and providing a trusted platform for both buyers and sellers,” commented Gil Carmo, CEO and founder of iMotorbike.

Boasting an impressive annualised revenue exceeding RM28 million, iMotorbike’s success attracted significant investment interest from Permodalan Negeri Selangor Berhad (PNSB), making it the first portfolio company to receive investment from PNSB.

This strategic partnership is seen to also have the potential to contribute to the economic development of the state. Concurrently, iMotorbike also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Selangor Technical Skills Development Centre (STCDC) to build local talent and advance the motorbike industry. This collaboration aims to enhance education and youth development in Selangor, aligning with the state government’s vision for economic growth and innovation.

“The Selangor government always supports initiatives that equip our young generation with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in the workforce. This MOU with iMotorbike is a shining example of such collaboration, fostering a unique training programme that empowers students, bolsters our technical industries, and ultimately fuels the state’s economic growth,” stated Mr Nazri bin Noh, Chairman of Selangor Technical Skills Development Centre. iMotorbike_Service Bays_Motorcycle_Scooter

Through specialised motorbike technician certifications offered to STDC students and graduates, aged 16 and above, this partnership opens doors to rewarding career opportunities in the industry. Leveraging the resources of the Selangor tech space, the collaboration reinforces the state’s commitment to tech education and innovation.

“PNSB, as a state-linked entity, stands apart from conventional venture capital firms. Our unique position allows us to act as a bridge between startups and the state apparatus. Today’s Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing exemplifies this commitment,” said YM Raja Ahmad Shahrir Iskandar, CEO of PNSB.

“As the Menteri Besar, I am proud to witness such initiatives that not only contribute to our state’s economic growth but also empower our youths to become leaders in their respective fields. I commend both iMotorbike and STDC for their vision and dedication towards fostering talent development and industry growth,” stated YAB Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, Dato’ Menteri Besar Selangor. “Congratulations as well to PNSB on your first investment and it is important to note that PNSB has brought to reality the points I made about the Selangor Innovation Fund in my address at the 2021 Selangor State Budget Tabling.”

The new iMotorbike showroom is located at 12, Jalan Perpustakawan U1/62, Kawasan Perindustrian Temasya, Shah Alam, Selangor.
