On the morning of 31 August 2023, about 600 Isuzu D-Max owners around the country gathered to simultaneously usher in Malaysia’s independence day as part of the Merdeka Convoy 66 to foster unity among fellow D-Max owners.
The Merdeka Convoy 66 is the largest ever simultaneous parade of Isuzu D-Max pickup trucks in the country. At the Isuzu Jinjang outlet in Kuala Lumpur, Isuzu Malaysia Chief Operating Officer Kenkichi Sogo was present to flag off the Merdeka Convoy 66. He shared that the event allowed dealers to engage with owners and celebrate together this special day for Malaysians.
“While our aim was to create a meaningful Merdeka celebration this year among our dealers and D-Max owners, we also wanted to celebrate this sense of unity that is so unique and apparent in Malaysia with a unified activity that transcends borders,” said Sogo.
Participants of the Merdeka Convoy 66 got to enjoy a day out with fellow D-Max owners around the country with various programmes organised for them by their respective dealerships. Their vehicles were also decked out with commemorative decals and flags while each participant received an exclusive event t-shirt.
Some of the activities organised by the dealers included a durian farm visit, an off-roading course, an afternoon at the beach, rainforest resort and a shopping mall. Feedback from owners was positive with many voicing their interest in participating further in group activities among D-Max owners to build closer friendships and network.
