BMW S 1000 RR Superbike Now In Malaysia

BMW Motorrad Malaysia has launched the new BMW S 1000 RR superbike, one of BMW Mottarad’s high performance models. With a legacy that goes back to 2009 when it debuted, the latest BMW S 1000 RR raises the bar even higher for the segment with a range of innovations to its engine, suspension, chassis,  aerodynamics, design, and assistance systems.BMW S 1000 RR_Track

Like its predecessor, the chassis of the new BMW S 1000 RR is welded in an aluminium bridge frame which integrates the engine in a 32-degree incline forward. To optimise flexibility laterally, the main frame of the new BMW S 1000 RR has been enhanced with several openings in the side areas. Additionally, the steering head angle has been flattened out by 0.5 degrees and the offset of the triple clamps reduced by 3 mm. This new chassis geometry is accompanied not only by even better riding precision, but also by increased accuracy and clearer feedback from the front wheel. Concurrently, the front and rear sections, as well as the winglet have also been redesigned to increase the aerodynamic performance and sportiness of the motorbike.

Power comes from a 4-cylinder in-line engine that has been refined further. Its peak power of 210 hp (154 kW) @ 13,750 rpm, is a 3 hp (2 kW) increase compared to the previous model. Maximum torque stands at 113 Nm @ 11,000 rpm. Accompanying the greater power output is a significantly broader and more usable engine speed range, with a maximum engine speed of 14,600 rpm.

Along with the updated performance are innovations that ensure greater control for the rider. These include the new Slide Control function in the Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), which assists the rider when accelerating out of a bend. It comes with 2 available preset drift angles for the traction control system, which utilise an advanced steering angle sensor to reduce slip and stabilise the motorcycle during leaning, as soon as the preset steering angle is achieved. Another new feature is the Brake Slide Assist which is part of the standard ABS Pro. Based also on steering sensor technology, this new function allows the rider to set at a pre-determine drift angle, or so-called braking drifts, while sliding into corners at a maintained speed.

The BMW S 1000 RR is also equipped with 4 riding modes i.e. Rain, Road, Dynamic and Race. Standard equipment includes BMW Motorrad Race ABS, Hill Start Control (HSC), Shift Assist Pro, LED turn signals, LED headlight and rear light, as well as the M GPS Laptrigger. Also included is the Dynamic Package, inclusive of Riding Mode Pro, HSC Pro, Dynamic Brake Control (DBC), Dynamic Damping Control (DDC), heated grips and cruise control.

“With the introduction of the New BMW S 1000 RR, we mark yet another thrilling milestone in BMW Motorrad’s rich legacy of engineering sporty, dynamic motorcycles. Intrinsically tied to the racetrack, every aspect of this superbike has been precisely designed with the clear goal of getting the most out of each lap, making it a natural favourite for riders with a penchant for pursuing pure, exhilarating performance,” said Hans De Visser, Managing Director of BMW Group Malaysia.

“By streamlining and evolving the design where it matters most, the New BMW S 1000 RR is now even more focused to meet the needs of those that constantly demand more out of themselves and their machine. Embodying the spirit of high-performance racing, we are confident that the superbike will continue to inspire riders that embrace challenges fearlessly and persistently. With the New BMW S 1000 RR, we invite riders to #NeverStopChallenging and to unlock new realms of exhilaration on the track and beyond,” he added.
