Naza Italia Introduces 2023 Maserati Grecale GT Hybrid

Naza Italia has unveiled the 2023 Maserati Grecale GT hybrid variant, after introducing the Grecale last June in 3 forms i.e GT, Modena and Trofeo, with the highlight on the range-topping Trofeo. The Grecale follows the Maserati tradition of using names of winds, and takes after the northeasterly Mediterranean wind. Marketed as “The Everyday Exceptional”, Maserati’s new SUV touts the right balance of versatility, elegance, performance and innovation, and guarantees performance, comfort and safety.Maserati Grecale GT Mild Hybrid_Headlights_DRL_Grille

The Grecale is developed at the Maserati Innovation Lab in Modena and produced at the Cassino plant, and is the Trident brand’s fullest range ever with 3 engine variants i.e. conventional internal combustion, hybrid and full-electric.

Maserati Grecale GT_2.0 Turbo Mild Hybrid EngineThe Grecale GT is powered by a 2.0L 4-cylinder mild hybrid engine with BSG (battery starter generator) which can produce 300 hp @ 5,750 rpm and 450 Nm @ 2,000 – 4,000 rpm. The turbocharger features an electronic wastegate and e-Booster. The power is transferred to the 4-wheel-drive system with open mechanical rear differential through the 8-speed Gen2.5 8HP50 gearbox (also available with optional limited slip self-locking). The GT can do the 0 to 100 km/h sprint in 5.6 seconds, and to 200 km/h in 23.7 seconds, with speed maxing out at 240 km/h.

Handling prowess is provided by the new, 100% Maserati Vehicle Dynamic Control Module (VDCM) system and the 360° control it offers over the car; which is available as options. The option of complete control translates into a clear distinction between the various Drive Modes i.e. Comfort, GT, Sport, and Off-Road.

Sitting on a 2,901 mm wheelbase, the Grecale GT is 4,846 mm long, 2,163 mm wide (including side mirrors), and 1,670 mm tall. It is the tallest of the 3 variants and embodies the brand’s most urban, minimal and contemporary spirit. A rear wheel track of 1,948 mm made it possible to achieve remarkable roominess in the rear, plus the 535-litre boot space with a flat loading platform, a cargo box under the platform and rear seats that can be folded down with the press of a button in the boot.

The front of the Grecale GT features a low-set grille flowing into a body profile with meandering, visual forms. At the rear, the boomerang taillights are inspired by the Giugiaro 3200 GT and fit in with the trapezoidal line, made more striking by the coupé effect of the cabin. Complementing the sporty look are a choice of 19” or 20” alloy wheels, body-colour bumpers and side skirts and front grille insert in brushed chrome and dual chrome-plated exhausts.

The SUV’s interior is characterised by a sophisticated and unconventional environment which draws inspiration from interior design. The cabin features a Saffiano leatherwork-inspired leather dashboard insert, combined with burnished inserts on the central console and door panel. These are characterised by an unusual laser processing that re-interprets from a Maserati perspective the iconic Maglia Milano, a characteristic of the best jewellery and watchmaking.

The GT version has hues which are warm and enveloping. As an alternative to Black Leather, premium leather in a rich chocolate colour, and sophisticated greige or bold black with contrasting stitching is also available as options.

The steering wheel is upholstered in leather, with aluminium fixed shift paddles, while the standout tech includes the traditional Maserati clockface in digital form, and 3 touch-based screens. The functions are controlled from the displays i.e. the large 12.3” central screen, the largest ever in a Maserati, another 8.8” display for the extra controls and a 3rd for the rear passengers. An optional state-of-the-art heads-up display is also available.

The in-car experience is managed from the Maserati Intelligent Assistant (MIA) Multimedia system, from the state-of-the-art infotainment and from Maserati Connect (not yet available in Malaysia). Furthermore, the in-car sound is courtesy of the immersive Sonus Faber 3D sound system with up to 21 speakers.
