Isuzu D-Max Sees Increase In Orders

Isuzu Malaysia has reported a 100% increase in orders for the all-new Isuzu D-Max since its launch in April 2021. The vastly-improved 3rd generation of this popular pick-up truck from Isuzu has averaged a monthly booking of over 1,200 units. The previous monthly bookings averaged about 500 units.

This sales trend is in line with neighbouring markets for the D-Max i.e. Australia, New Zealand and Thailand. The growth in sales can be attributed mainly to its fresher and sportier design, enhanced ergonomics and improved engineering.

Isuzu Malaysia_Masayuki Suzuki_COO“This all-new D-Max phenomenon that has swept the various markets has been somewhat overwhelming. Needless to say, the attractive design, new and improved features and proven Isuzu reputation contributed significantly towards convincing customers to switch or upgrade to this all-new D-Max model,” said Isuzu Malaysia’s Chief Operating Officer Masayuki Suzuki.

In Malaysia, the 1.9L Premium variant has been the top choice among buyers, at about 36% of overall sales. This model currently offers the lowest engine displacement in the market and has the benefit of a lower road tax. Despite being smaller, the award-winning 1.9L turbo diesel engine doesn’t sacrifice on performance. The 1.9L Premium model is particularly popular in Peninsula Malaysia, making up 61% of its sales volume. This has reversed the traditional 60/40 balance where East Malaysia had a bigger share of sales.

Despite a premium on its road tax due to an improved 3.0L engine, more than half of all the X-Terrain sales have come from the Peninsular where many of its niceties such as its Advanced Driving Assistance Systems (ADAS), comfort features, refined and intuitive cabin, bold and sporty design and superior handling both on and off road make it particularly popular with lifestyle buyers.

“The response to this new model has been extremely positive considering the limited opportunities prospects have had to fully experience the new model due to the strict movement controls and safety protocols. Our current aim is to ensure the smooth, safe and timely delivery of vehicles to our customers despite the various administrative and logistical concerns faced domestically and globally,” added Mr Suzuki.

Isuzu D-Max_X-Terrain_RearWhile the all-new D-Max has made inroads into the lifestyle segment with its improved design and ergonomics, 81% of new owners have stated that they would utilise their trucks for both work and pleasure, underlining the inherently robust nature of Isuzu products.

The all-new Isuzu D-Max is available in 7 variants to suit different needs and preferences. The D-Max X-Terrain comes exclusively in Valencia Orange or Sapphire Blue, while the other models share a choice of colours i.e. Silky White Pearl, Mercury Silver, Onyx Black and Splash White.

All Isuzu D-Max models are covered by a 5-year or 150,000 km warranty. However, the D-Max X-Terrain enjoys a class-leading 7-year unlimited mileage warranty.
