Toyota Yaris Facelift Now Open For Booking; Includes Toyota Safety Sense Features

The Toyota Yaris facelift is now open for booking at all authorised Toyota showrooms. The restyled Yaris will also be reinforced with Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) features and equipped with higher standards of convenience and connectivity. A new exterior colour i.e. Platinum White Pearl will be offered, but you can pick Red Mica Metallic or Silver Metallic as your choice.

Toyota Yaris_FaceliftThe front end of the facelifted Yaris is redesigned with a more aggressive appearance, giving it a look that is closer to the Corolla Altis. There is a new bumper with front aerokit, new grille, triple bezel full LED headlights, side intakes and repositioned daytime running lights. The triple bezel headlights are also equipped with a follow-me-home function for safety and convenience, and will be available as standard across the range i.e. J, E and G variants.

Launched in April 2019, the Toyota Yaris is locally assembled, and has been consistently No. 1 in the Non-National hatchback segment. UMW Toyota hopes that the enhancements to the Yaris facelift will help it maintain market leadership in this segment.

The Toyota Yaris will also get Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) features. The revised model will be equipped with a host of additional advanced safety features which will include a Pre-Collision System (PCS) that uses an
integrated camera and radar system to help reduce the risk of collision. This system works from 15km/h to alert the driver when it detects the front vehicle is within collision distance and assists to reduce vehicle speed as additional support to the driver. The other TSS feature is Lane Departure Alert (LDA) which works from 50 km/h onwards, and can be turned off if desired.

Additionally, there is a 3D 360º panoramic view monitor to give the driver a surround and unobstructed front, rear, top, sides and three dimensional virtual views of the vehicle.

Other safety systems in the Yaris that include Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction Control (TRC), Hill-Start Assist Control (HAC), Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA), and Front as well as Rear Digital Video Recorders (DVRs).

For convenient connectivity, the updated Yaris will have a 7” inch Android Auto-Ready & Apple CarPlay (AACP) touchscreen infotainment system. Moreover, the Vehicle Telematics System will be a standard feature for Yaris E & G variants, as part of the company’s move to expand the Connectivity feature under the 360-T Plus brand experience.

The Toyota Yaris should continue with the 1.5L 2NR-FE four-cylinder engine with Dual VVT-i and seven-speed CVT with Sport Sequential Shiftmatic. This power pairing offers 107 PS and 140 Nm. It features an Engine Integrated Control unit for more linear starts, and enhanced Flex Lock-Up Control that helps to save fuel when decelerating.

Prices will be announced soon, and we have until 31 December 2020 to take advantage of the sales tax exemption for new cars. Retail prices during the tax exemption period is estimated to be RM71,688 (Yaris J), RM80,591 (Yaris E) and RM85,587 (Yaris G).
