Rolls-Royce Cullinan Glides Into The Arabian Desert

The luxurious Rolls-Royce Cullinan is perhaps one of the last vehicles one can imagine to traverse extreme off-road environments. But that is precisely what one Rolls-Royce Cullinan owner did with his, as he took it into the Arabian Desert.

Rolls-Royce Cullinan_DesertThe Arabian Desert is the fifth largest desert in the world and, and the largest in Asia; it takes up most of the Arabian peninsula. This dry and sandy terrain can get as hot as 50ºC.

This environment is perfect for Rolls-Royce clients who seek to conquer the most challenging terrains and enjoy life’s most enriching experiences. Their desire to pursue this unbounded access in ultimate luxury is proof that luxury conveyance is no longer confined to the urban environment.

Cullinan is Rolls-Royce, as it’s never been seen before. Effortless, everywhere, Cullinan takes the world in its stride and takes visionaries and explorers on the epic adventures they dare to undertake. Adventure awaits “the Rolls-Royce of SUVs” as it embarks on an expedition completely off the beaten track and into the beauty and mystery of the Arabian desert.

A local patron of luxury took his Sapphire Black Cullinan and brought ‘supreme liberty’ to life as he took the world-famous Rolls-Royce ‘Magic Carpet Ride’ off-road and onto the graceful and imposing dunes. Discovering new horizons on the golden sands, the outcrops and the steep sandy cliffs, Cullinan became a force of nature, and led by the Spirit of Ecstasy, surfed over high and low terrains with absolute authority. Undulating smoothly and quietly, Cullinan floats across this unforgiving landscape, making the journey seamless and magical.

Cullinan derived its name from the largest diamond in the world. Coincidentally, it was cut from the largest gem-quality rough diamond ever discovered, at 3,106.75 carats. This Rolls-Royce jewel is powered by a 6.75L twin turbo V12 engine with 563 bhp @ 5,000 rpm and 850 Nm of torque @ 1,600 rpm at its disposal. This power is transferred to the wheels by an eight-speed transmission that prepares gears for impending corners and terrain based on the map system.

The ‘Effortless, Everywhere’ principle is available from a single source, known within Rolls-Royce as the ‘Everywhere’ button. This offers four different programmes within the off-road driving mode. Cullinan also has the latest generation of self-levelling four-corner air suspension, sophisticated all-wheel drive system, all-wheel steering. Off-road, the electronically-controlled air suspension uses a powerful compression system to actively push down any wheel when the system detects loss of traction, to ensure that every wheel is constantly in contact with the ground, and maximum torque is delivered usefully to all wheels.

Moreover, Cullinan also delivers the deepest wading depth of any super-luxury SUV, at 540 mm, thanks to its ride height, so it can be taken off-road, or survive a city flood with ease.
