New HINO 300 Series Pro Truck Promises Quality, Durability And Reliability

Hino Motors Sales (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (HMSM), has launched the new HINO 300 Series Pro truck. This new member of its Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) line-up carries the company’s promise of Quality, Durability and Reliability (QDR).

With this model, the company aims to provide light duty trucks that are best suited to the needs of the local market and support its customers’ businesses. This aligns with its mission to be Malaysia’s most customer centric and reliable commercial vehicles company by providing ‘Best-Fit Product’ and ‘Total Support’.

Hino’s new product line-up is introduced with the name “Pro”, to highlight three key properties i.e. Professional, Protect, and Profit, to complement its main features i.e. Strong, Spacious, Safety, and Smart.

Our new light commercial vehicle, HINO 300 series is one of our products that we have worked on to achieve customer’s satisfaction,” said Atsushi Uchiyama, Managing Director of HMSM. The new HINO 300 Series Pro offers the longest warranty period of five years, or 300,000 km (subject to terms and conditions).

This latest generation HINO 300 Series Pro comes in two versions i.e. 4-wheeler and 6-wheeler. In the 4-wheeler segment, there are three models available. The highlight in this segment is the XZU600 AT variant which comes with an automatic transmission, best suited for inner city and intracity trips. The ease of operation also helps to reduce driver fatigue and allows the driver to focus on the road and fuel-efficient driving.

All 4-wheeler models are powered by a Euro 3 turbocharged engine with intercooler that produces 141 PS and 402 Nm of torque. The 300 Series Pro 4-wheeler has an upgraded gross vehicle weight (GVW) of 5,000 kg (from 4,800 kg), making it the highest GVW in its segment. With this upgrade, it allows owners to carry a higher payload per trip.

In the 6-wheeler segment, the truck has greater rear tread dimension, up to 1,660 mm, making it the widest rear tread in its segment. This allows customers to construct a wider and higher body. This upgraded feature provides convenient space to place two pallets side by side with sufficient space for forklift manoeuvring as well as able to cater for bulkier items.

The 6-wheeler is powered by a more powerful Euro 3 turbo diesel engine with 156 PS and 429 Nm of torque, transferred via a 6-speed transmission with power assistance for easier gear shift at higher speed. Of the six variants of 6-wheelers available, two of them have automatic transmission.

The new improved transmission has a higher first gear ratio to give better gradeability. Further, the lower top gear ratio offers better fuel consumption at high speed. HMSM also confirms that the engines are compatible with B20 biodiesel.

In terms of safety, the new models feature front disc brakes with better ventilation and enhance braking performance with minimized brake fade. The rear drum brakes also offer good performance in low-speed driving.

Every variant has Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) that prevents the wheels from locking up during heavy braking and allowing for maintained contact with the road surface for grip. The ABS helps the driver remain in control of the vehicle to avoid obstacles in its path during braking. Additionally, the Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) feature distributes the amount of braking force to each wheel of the vehicle for better braking performance and safety.

Another new safety feature of the 300 Series Pro is the Brake Override System (BOS). Sensors of this system is able to recognise when the throttle and brake pedals are being pressed at the same time. Priority function will then be given to braking instead of acceleration. The brake pedal is also enhanced with smart technology that detects when something abnormal occurs.

Other safety features include side door impact beams, improved mirrors for better field of vision, front & rear under-run protection, 3-point seat belts, and Emergency Guard Impact Safety (EGIS) Cabin. These passive safety features are aimed at helping to reduce the risk of fatal injuries to both driver and other road users and pedestrians.

For its logistics customers, HMSM provides a constant, consistent, and reliable fleet management solution. The new ‘Hino Connect’ smart telematics device is able to support operation and fleet managers to take care of their trucks.

Included with a 7″ touch screen monitor, Hino Connect is designed to support logistics companies in improving operational efficiency to increase profit and revenue, and improve safety and security. The intention of this system is to encourage good driving behaviour, monitor truck maintenance, and reduce unplanned downtime. There is also a 24-hour call centre to provide assistance.

Other than the basic functions like radio, Bluetooth and USB port, the Hino Connect also has an SOS button for emergencies. Hino Connect is linked to the myHINO app to allow users to access their truck information via mobile phone.

“We have sold over one million units of HINO 300 Series globally and we have been receiving good reviews and feedback from many customers all over the world. In Malaysia, we launched HINO 300 Series in 2004 and it was highly evaluated and praised for its Quality, Durability, and After-sales Support. I am confident that this new HINO 300 Series Pro will further contribute to our customer’s business in Malaysia, said the President of Hino Motors Limited Japan, Yoshio Shimo.
