Special Service Campaign for Daihatsu Commercial Vehicles in Malaysia. It’s Free.
Shah Alam, 8th November 2019 – Daihatsu (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. (DMSB) which is the distributor of Daihatsu light commercial vehicles in Malaysia, is working with its principal, Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. (DMC) and manufacturer PT Astra Daihatsu Motors (ADM), in a Special Service Campaign to replace the connecting rod on the 3SZ engine in the Daihatsu Gran Max 1,500 cc sold in Malaysia.
DMC initially became aware of a potential quality related issue after performing routine examinations. The connecting rods in the Gran Max’s 3SZ engine has been found to have smooth cracks and there is a possibility that this may cause the vehicle to stall while in operation. Based on the investigation done, the problem occurred in the forging process of the connecting rod at ADM’s manufacturing plant in Indonesia.
In Malaysia, 1,451 vehicles manufactured from 7 March 2018 to 10 April 2019 sold by DMSB are affected by this Special Service Campaign. No other Daihatsu models before or after this production date are affected by this issue.
Daihatsu is committed to always provide the best service, quality and assurance to its customers and customers’ safety is a top priority. Owners of the affected vehicles will be notified directly about the SSC and will be requested to bring their vehicles to an authorised Daihatsu Service Centre for the necessary remedies.
DMSB will carry out the appropriate inspection and replacement of the connecting rod in accordance with Daihatsu manufacturing standards at no charge to the vehicle owner. The owner DOES NOT need to pay for replacement and labour charges of the affected part. DMSB estimates that the inspection and replacement process will take approximately 18 hours, subject to the work schedule at the service centre.
