Six variants are available i.e. E, G, GXtra, SE, AV and a new STYLE variant, with prices starting from an estimated RM24,090 to 43,190 (on-the-road before insurance for Peninsular Malaysia), to suit different budgets. The 2019 Perodua Axia comes with a five-year (or 150,000 km) warranty, whichever comes first.

All variants will run the 1.0 litre 1KR-VE engine with variable valve timing that is paired to a five-speed manual transmission (E variant) or an electronically-controlled four-speed automatic transmission (all other variants).

Perodua’s Advanced Safety Assist 2.0 (ASA 2.0*) suite of driver assistance safety systems, which debuted in the Aruz seven-seater SUV earlier this January, is now available in the Axia range (AV variant), making it the most affordable car in Malaysia with such a feature.

The ASA 2.0 suite consists of Pedestrian Detection (up to 50 km/h), Pre-Collision Warning (up to 100 km/h), Pre-Collision Braking (up to 80 km/h), Front Departure Alert and Pedal Misoperation Control.

“The Axia is at the very core of what Perodua stands for – to provide affordable and fuss-free mobility for all. Over 380,000 units have found homes since we first introduced the model in September 2014, and it was in fact our best-seller from 2015 through 2017,” said Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Zainal Abidin Ahmad.

“With the 2019 Perodua Axia, we aim to redefine practical mobility in Malaysia by levelling up the standards of value, safety and style to ensure that the Axia remains your first choice,” he added.

Additionally, all variants from GXtra and above are equipped with Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and traction control. Further, all variants, except the base E, have ABS with Electronic Brake-force Distribution as standard.

The Perodua Axia was Malaysia’s first Energy-Efficient Vehicle (EEV) at its birth in 2014. The updated Axia’s claimed average fuel efficiency is rated at 22.5 km/l for the manual, 21.6 km/l for the auto and 20.8 km/l for the new STYLE variant.

“The advances in safety and additional features, coupled to the Axia’s renowned fuel efficiency, practicality, spaciousness, low ownership costs, ease to drive and dependability while maintaining its affordability, mean it now offers more value than ever before,” said Dato’ Zainal.

On the new STYLE variant, Dato’ Zainal said, “Perodua is taking a bold new step with the Axia STYLE, a new addition to the Axia family that will appeal to the fun and active side of your personality – stay tuned!”

Perodua encourages the public to visit its authorised showrooms where the sales advisors will assist in providing information on the 2019 Perodua Axia.
