The Volkswagen Tiguan, the brand’s best-selling SUV thus far, has been updated for Malaysia. The update is part of Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia’s ongoing intiative to enhance ownership experience for its customers.
These updates will appear in the Tiguan from March 2019 – an upgraded 2019 Active Info Display (AID) and LED taillights.
The new Active Info Display is a high resolution TFT (thin-film transistor) colour display that is similar to a smartphone’s. It incorporates functions and features in 2D and 3D graphic display for navigation and media. Further, there is now a three-view customizable screen via the infotainment system, with over 30 combinations to choose from. The dials can also be preset to show a combination of data and a full 3D view map for better navigation.
On the exterior, the LED tail lights have been updated to a new unit with distinctive light graphics. The new tail lights also incorporate brake animation that enhances visibility for safety.
VPCM has announced that prices for Tiguan will remain unchanged (RM165,990 for Highline; RM175,990 for JOIN variant) despite the upgrades. All Volkswagen vehicles are covered with 3 years free maintenance, 5 years unlimited mileage warranty and 5 years roadside assistance.
The Tiguan is powered by a 1.4L TSI turbocharged direct injection engine via a 6-speed direct shift gearbox (DSG) with sport mode. Output is rated at 150 PS and 250 Nm @ 1,500 – 3,500 rpm. 0 – 100 km/h acceleration is timed at 8.9 seconds.
Safety features include six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Multi-collision brakes, Intelligent Crash Response System (ICRS), Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) as well as hill-hold control. For comfort, the Tiguan features Park Assist, Manoeuvre Braking and 3-Zone Climatronic. For complete connectivity, the Tiguan comes with App-Connect for easy access to apps through the 8” infotainment touchscreen either with MirrorLink, Android Auto or Apple CarPlay.
