2019 Proton Persona Now Open For Online Booking; Launch In Late March

Like it had done with the X70 and updated Iriz, Proton has also opened the 2019 Proton Persona for online booking with a ‘flash promotion’. From 12 – 22 March 2019, you can place an online booking for the new Persona with just RM9.99 ; it ends at 11:59 pm on 22 March.

“Proton aims to make its cars accessible to as many potential buyers as possible. That is why the RM9.99 flash promotion is being offered for the 2019 Persona. The low commitment fee is just one part of the deal. The convenience of being able to place a booking online from virtually anywhere there is a data line is the second part of the equation, making the act of booking a car simple and fast,” said Dr Li Chunrong, Chief Executive Officer of Proton.

Also, due to popular demand, the flash promotion for the Proton Iriz will also be extended to end on the same day as the promotion for the 2019 Persona. This means customers will be able to place a booking for either car online until 22 March.

The 2019 Proton Persona was shown to the media yesterday, at Proton’s Malaysia Design Centre in Shah Alam. Led by Head of Proton Design, Azlan Othman, and utilising expertise from other Geely design centres, the design team has made subtle but necessary updates to the Persona to sell it on ‘Peerless Connectivity’, ‘Practical Functionality’ and ‘Proven Safety’.

Proton claims to have made improvements to 303 items in the Persona which includes areas like brake performance and NVH (noise, vibration and harshness), as well as fuel consumption.

The now-standard Proton “Ethereal Bow” on the face, and the “Infinite Weave” radiator grille have been incorporated but take on a different look from the X70 and Iriz. Further down the redesigned front bumper, the old fog lamps have been replaced by new signature LED daytime running lights (except for Standard variants). The lower bumper garnish also houses front proximity sensors, one of the few cars in this price range to offer them.

At the rear, the tiger badge is replaced by the Proton name spelled out across the trunk lid garnish which has lost its chrome finish and taken on the body colour. A redesigned rear bumper lower garnish, a shark fin antenna and new 15″ wheel design round out the exterior updates.

Inside, this B-segment family sedan also comes with new tricot fabric headlining. Rear passengers can now also make use of two USB charging port (the car now comes with three ports). The updated head unit with touchscreen and selected “Hi Proton” voice control and eSIM for full-time 4G connectivity is available in the range-topping variant.
