French automotive group, Groupe PSA, and local partner, Naza Automotive Manufacturing Sdn Bhd (NAM) hosted its first Supplier Day event at its Gurun plant in Kedah. The response to this Supplier Day event was overwhelming, with 140 representatives from the industry, as well as global industry experts and government authorities attending.
Laurence Noël, CEO & Director of the Board of NAM, ASEAN Senior Vice President, took the opportunity to present Groupe PSA’s Southeast Asia Push-to-Pass strategy and its ambitions in terms of products, operations, local integration as well as the role of NAM in the ambitions to become a major player in the Malaysian automotive industry.
Yann Martin, Senior Vice President, Head of Vehicle and Powertrain Procurement for Groupe PSA, briefed the guests on the purchasing power of Groupe PSA, expectations in term of localisation, new business opportunities and the potential benefits to be part of Groupe PSA’s worldwide supplier network.
NAM is looking to launch its first models in April 2019, planned in its agile roadmap to cater for the Malaysian domestic market as well as the regional Southeast Asia markets. There will be two new models based on the EMP2 and CMP platforms which will be produced at the Gurun plant for this purpose.
