BMW Group Malaysia Exports First Batch Of MINI Countryman To Thailand
BMW Group Malaysia has exported its first batch of Malaysia-assembled MINI Countryman to Thailand. BMW Group Malaysia’s export programme to Thailand has delivered the first units of the MINI Cooper S Countryman and the MINI Cooper S Countryman Hightrim.
The export initiatives of BMW Group Malaysia in South East Asia are in line with the ASEAN Trade in Goods Agreement (ATIGA) which promotes intra-ASEAN trade and ensures the realisation of the free flow of goods within ASEAN. This has aided the BMW Group in utilising the premium automaker’s plants in ASEAN efficiently, providing flexibilities to match its production to the market demands, both for domestic and for export effectively.
Harald Hoelzl, Managing Director and CEO, BMW Group Malaysia said, “The INOKOM Corporation plant in Kulim, Kedah, which is a partnership between Sime Darby Berhad and BMW Group Malaysia, are among 30 production sites in 14 countries around the world for the BMW Group and is an important touch point for us in the South East Asian region.”
Hoelzl added that being able to support and serve the markets in the region is an achievement and a landmark milestone not just for the BMW Group but for Malaysia as well. “We have been developing our local assembly capabilities here together with our local partner Sime Darby Berhad and our network of local suppliers with the ambition to support the region and today, we have taken an important step forward,” he commented.
The MINI Cooper S Countryman is priced at THB2,299,000, including VAT with MSI Standard Package (approximately RM259,557), while the MINI Cooper S Countryman Hightrim is priced at THB2,499,000 (approximately RM282,137). Both are powered by a 2.0L MINI TwinPower Turbo engine with 192 hp and 280 Nm of torque at its disposal, managed by an 8-speed Steptronic transmission.
The Cooper S Countryman gets 18” Pair Spoke alloy wheels in silver, a sport leather steering wheel with multifunction controls and Servotronic steering, Piano Black finish and Leather Cross Punch Carbon Black sport seats, 6.5″ touchscreen infotainment unit with MINI Connected personal assistant with navigation, vehicle data, automatic tailgate with foot-activated motion sensor under the rear bumper, and Parking Assistant.
The MINI Cooper S Countryman Hightrim gets a sportier look than the standard MINI Countryman with its Chrome Line highlights on the exterior and interior. The Countryman Hightrim gets 19″Edged Spoke alloy wheels in silver, a three-spoke MINI Yours sport leather steering wheel, gearshift paddles, MINI Yours Piano Black Illuminated style ambience, Harman Kardon HiFi sound system, MINI Head-Up display, 8.8″ touchscreen, and a rear view camera combined with Parking Assistant.
