The Outback is the first Subaru model in Malaysia to be launched with the EyeSight driving support system (the new Outback and XV with EyeSight were launched in Singapore earlier this year). The engine output is rated at 175 PS and 235 Nm and the power is distributed to all four wheels (as is typical of Subarus) by the 7-speed Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) with manual override mode. The CVT chain has been changed to a short pitch chain to reduce noise and improve fuel efficiency by about three percent.

The new Outback features:

  • EyeSight Driver Assist Technology – a driving support system that uses a range of functions to
assist the driver to provide a safer driving experience
  • STABLEX-Ride System – for even better steering stability and ride quality with less body shake
  • X-MODE – for optimised control of the engine, Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive (S-AWD) and brakes to safely drive over almost any type of terrain
