Bermaz’s MazdaSports Division recently organised a MazdaSports Academy Advanced Driving programme for Mazda owners. This is the first ownership experience programme run by the MazdaSports Division which was established for vehicle development, parts and accessories, and experience programmes.
It was met with overwhelming response with all the available slots taken up almost immediately upon announcement. Initially planned as a one-day event (9 June) at MAEPS in Serdang, the Advanced Driving programme had to be extended for another day because of the response.
Forty Mazda owners, mostly from the Klang Valley attended this event; the rest came from as far as Terengganu, Johor and Melaka, to experience the Jinba Ittai spirit i.e. being one with their car and discover their own driving potential. After a day of running through the dynamic driving practical course, the owners got to put what they learned in a Time Trial Challenge to test their agility. All participants went home with a certificate of accomplishment and a better understanding of their driving potential and their car.
The MazdaSports Division will be designing more Advanced Driving programmes which will be either model specific or by categories based on vehicle powertrain or dimensions. Programmes tailored specifically for Mazda’s SUV range and iconic roadster, the MX-5, are currently underway, so if you own one (or both) of these, look out for the next announcement.
Aside from this MazdaSports Division has developed two models under its vehicle development project i.e. the Mazda3 and Mazda2 with the nameplate MS and M+, respectively, for the Malaysia market.
