UD Extra Mile Challenge 2018 Now Open For Enrollment
The UD Extra Mile Challenge (UDEMC) is back for the third year in Malaysia. This competition to train, showcase and enhance the skills of truck drivers is once again jointly organized by Japanese truck brand, UD Trucks, and its sole distributor partner in Malaysia, Tan Chong Industrial Equipment Sdn Bhd (TCIE).
This is the only such competition among the Japanese truck brands and the Malaysia edition of this global competition is now open for enrollment to all UD Quester truck drivers in Peninsular Malaysia. The last date for entry is 15 June 2018. All qualified UD Quester truck drivers who are not only interested in enhancing their skills and knowledge, but to be the best in Malaysia and win a chance to represent the country in the global finals in Japan, should contact the nearest TCIE dealership, or call 03-61899832 to register.
To be eligible for this competition, the participant must have a valid truck driving license, be currently employed, possess driving experience of a UD Quester truck, and must be able to travel abroad upon winning the Malaysia round.
In 2017, the Malaysia round winner, Anuar bin Ahmad, won the Pre-Drive Inspection Event at the global final in Japan.
The annual UDEMC is a drivers’ competition held in stages i.e. pre-selection, local finals and global finals, and is aimed at improving driving competency, knowledge and professionalism of truck drivers who are crucial to backbone of the economy and should be considered the unsung heroes at the very heart of smart logistics. This competition will also educate drivers on how to maximize the innovative features and capabilities of the UD Quester heavy-duty truck, to become more proficient and efficient.
But the UDEMC is more than just driving skills, it also provides a valuable platform of support to the drivers for better understanding of safe driving, fuel economy and maximizing truck uptime and reducing unnecessary operational cost.
Once registration closes, the competition will then proceed to pre-selection stage in July 2018 where UD Trucks and TCIE will begin its journey across multiple states in Peninsular Malaysia to select the best 10 for the Malaysia finals.
