Sime Darby Auto Connexion Records Stronger Q1 Sales For Ford Ranger Truck

Sime Darby Auto Connexion (SDAC) achieved a stronger first quarter sales of the Ford Ranger pickup truck, with a 9% year-on-year increase to 1,451 units. This has helped the Ford Ranger increase its market share in the pickup truck segment to 15.3%, up 1.3% year-on-year. The Ranger is also Ford’s best-selling model in Malaysia.

“The ‘Built Ford Tough’ Ranger is continuing to attract a wide range of loyal customers across the country,” said Truong Kim Phong, managing director, Asia Pacific Emerging Markets, Ford Motor Company.

“Ranger’s bold design and its unmatched versatility, safety and capability is really helping drive its popularity in Malaysia,” said Syed Ahmad Muzri Syed Faiz, managing director, Sime Darby Auto Connexion.

Ford Ranger FX4 Cool White Limited Edition_Front - Malaysia 2018The Ranger is available in Malaysia in ten variants, including the Ranger Wildtrak, Ranger FX4, XLT, XL and Standard variants, giving consumers a wide range of choices to suit their lifestyle or requirements.

“We are confident that the Ranger will continue to drive our momentum in Malaysia. We also plan to introduce more global Ford vehicles, as well as continue to enhance our customer and ownership experience, including the ongoing expansion of our dealer network,” added Muzri.

Ford and SDAC have recently opened a new dealership in Kuching to serve a growing market and has plans to continue expanding its dealership network in Malaysia.
