Ferrari Portofino Launched In Malaysia

The Ferrari Portofino is officially launched in Malaysia, following its launch at the Frankfurt International Motor Show in September 2017. Unveiled by Naza Italia, the official importer and distributor of the Ferrari brand in Malaysia, the Ferrari Portofino is named after a picturesque village on the Italian Riviera and represents a combination of luxury, versatility and on-board comfort. A replacement for the California T, the Ferrari Portofino starts from the base price of RM948,000 (excluding duty and customization options).

Powered by a turbochaged 3,855cc V8 engine (a member of the engine family that won the International Engine of the Year Award in 2016 and 2017 consecutively), the Portofino has 591 hp and 760 Nm on tap and gets the car from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds (0 – 200 km/h in 10.8 seconds). The engine is connected to a 7-speed F1 dual clutch transmission.

Like its predecessor, the Portofino’s has a retractable hard top and it can be opened or closed in 14 seconds while on the move at slower speeds.

Available for the first time in this type of Ferrari model is a third-generation electronic rear differential (E-Diff3) integrated with with F1-Trac for improved mechanical grip and control. The Ferrari Portofino is also the first GT in this range to be fitted with EPS (Electric Power Steering), together with E-Diff3, reduces the steering ratio by 7% for even more responsive steering without a trade-off in stability at high-speed driving. The upgraded magnetorheological damping system (SCM-E) with dual-coil technology helps reduce roll and  improves damping of uneven road surfaces.

Ferrari Portofino Dashboard, MalaysiaAimed at daily drivers, the Portofino also focuses on on-board comfort with such features as an infotainment system with a 10.2” touchscreen display, a new air-conditioning system that improves passenger comfort either with the top up or down, a new steering wheel, 18-way adjustable electric-powered seats with a new backrest design that boosts legroom for rear seat passengers, and the passenger display. All passengers will also appreciate the new wind deflector which cuts air flow inside the cabin by 30% and reduces aerodynamic noise in open-top driving.

The car displayed at the recent launch is a left-hand drive sample but the right-hand drive version is on its way to our shores.
