Volkswagen Golf R-Line Launched In Malaysia
When the improved Volkswagen Golf family was launched recently, the Golf R-Line was absent as it had yet to arrive. Now that it’s here, Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) was happy to show it off at the 2018 Malaysia Autoshow.
Priced at RM166,990, the Volkswagen Golf R-Line wears distinctive R-Line styling that includes R-Line bumpers, rear spoiler and badges. It is available in six body colours i.e. Tumeric Yellow, Atlantic Blue, Pure White, Deep Black, White Silver and Indium Grey.
Under the hood is Under the hood, is a 1.4L TSI turbocharged engine that sends 150 PS and 250 Nm of torque to the front wheels via a 7-speed dry clutch direct shift gearbox (DSG). The wheels, by the way, are 17″ alloys called “Singapore”.
Inside, the Golf R-Line is equipped with a 12.3” Active Info Display and 8” screen Composition Media with App-Connect which lets you run use MirrorLink, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Other key features of the Golf R-Line include LED headlights with Dynamic Cornering Lights, dual zone Climatronic air conditioning, rear-view camera, ‘KESSY’ keyless entry and start, electronic parking brake, and Driving Mode Selections with four different modes: Eco, Normal, Sport and Individual.
Safety equipped encompasses seven airbags, Maneuver Braking (automatically brakes the car when it senses objects up 10km/h during parking), Automatic Post Collision Brake System (brakes are automatically applied to prevent subsequent impact when the vehicle is involved in a collision), Advanced Electronic Differential Lock (provides added grip during fast cornering), Rest Assist and Proactive Occupant Protection System (looks out for the driver and occupants in the vehicle).
Mr Erik Winter, Managing Director of VPCM said that the R-Line’s arrival completes the Golf family line-up. “Since the launch of the Golf family, we have received very positive response towards the variants – and now
with today’s unveiling, the family is complete. The Golf is such an iconic model for Volkswagen, and has a strong following here and around the world, so it is no surprise that more than 34 million units have been sold worldwide since it its market introduction in 1974. To date, demand for the Golf remains an all-time high for us.”
The Volkswagen Golf R-Line is currently on display at the Malaysia Autoshow @ MAEPS (26 – 29 April), where the Golf Sportline and Golf GTI are available for test drives along with other models.
