Sime Darby Auto Performance (SDAP) has brought in the 3rd generation Porsche Cayenne to Malaysia albeit for a preview pending its official launch later in 2018, possibly in the 3rd quarter. As a mid-sized SUV, the first generation Cayenne was a unique product from a sports car maker.

Porsche Cayenne S, Front Air Intake, Malaysia Preview 2018The new Cayenne continues this combination of practicality and performance, and with a wider range of standard equipment. Although the new Cayenne has grown 63 mm longer (but now sits lower by 9 mm), it is lighter by 65 kg (225 kg lighter when compared to the first generation).

The sleeker appearance is enhanced by the larger front air intakes, an accentuated power dome and LED headlights with 4-point LED daytime running lights. At the rear, there are LED tail lights with 4-point LED brake lights, a lighting strip with a 3D Porsche logo, and a redesigned apron.

Improvements in driving performance come from adaptations of the 911 such as rear-axle steering and mixed tyre sizes. It also has an electronically control damper system with 3-chamber air suspension and active hang-on all-wheel drive, Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC), electronic roll stabilisation system, and the newly-developed high-performance Porsche Surface Coated Brake (PSCB).

There will be 2 variants offered by SDAP – the Cayenne with a 3.0L turbo V6 engine that produces 340 hp and 450 Nm of torque (0 – 100 km/h in 5.9s), and the Cayenne S with a 2.9L twin-turbo V6 engine that delivers 440 hp and 550 Nm (0 – 100 km/h in 4.9s). The Cayenne’s power will be managed by a new 8-speed Tiptronic S gearbox.

Porsche Cayenne Preview, 2018 Malaysia, Arnt Bayer“The new Cayenne promises to be more Porsche and more Cayenne than ever. Our primary objective was to further highlight the character of the vehicle. The new Cayenne is now more precise, elegant, athletic and expressive. The Cayenne has also been digitalised and networked throughout by providing another level of digital connectivity to the cockpit. This includes versatility, quality and new cutting-edge driver assistance systems that offer both driver and passengers extraordinary comfort. This is how the Cayenne makes the Porsche experience even more fascinating but remains as a genuine sports car for five,” said Arnt Bayer, Chief Executive Officer of SDAP.

The final base price of the Cayenne will be revealed at the launch but you can register your interest at any of the Porsche Centres nationwide.
