MyMotor Malaysia Offers Toyota C-HR In Malaysia Ahead Of Official Launch By UMW Toyota

25 January 2018 – MyMotor Malaysia, an organization backed by Malaysia’s leading e-government Services provider, MY E.G. Services Berhad, today announced that they have 19 units of Toyota C-HR available for sale to the Malaysian public, ahead of the official launch of the same model by UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd, the official distributors and assemblers of the Toyota brand here in Malaysia. Mr. Edward Tan, General Manager of MyMotor Malaysia also announced that these 19 units can be registered in time for the coming Chinese New Year, and that another batch is on the way.

According to Mr. Edward Tan, GM of MyMotor Malaysia, these are ‘recond’ cars with some mileage clocked on the car odometers. Thus we have to assume that these are ‘used’ or ‘reconditioned’ cars imported using used car Approval Permits (APs).

The C-HR units offered by MyMotor are purchased off the Japan Domestic market, and are based on Japanese specifications. Whereas the UMW Toyota plan is to bring in the 1.8 litre Front-Wheel Drive (FWD) variant, MyMotor is importing the 1.2 litre gasoline turbo charged model with All-Wheel Drive (AWD). It appears that this is a new engine that delivers 116 horsepower and 185 Nm of torque. It is quite likely that this engine will find its way into other small and mid-sized Toyota models soon.

MyMotor is offering two variants, the S-T and G-T specifications, with the same mechanicals but with two levels of trim, the main difference being the seat material, fabric and half-leather and the S-T with 17-inch wheels while the G-T will be supplied with 18-inch wheels. According to Edward, pricing is between RM170k to RM185k, depending on year of manufacture. He mentioned that they had 2016 and end 2017 year models. These are base prices, with duties but not inclusive of insurance and other charges.

For leasing customers, the package would include three years warranty (Insurance warranty), and a three year service package with parts included, the cost of which will be added into the leasing package, as well as financing for the same period. For hire purchase and cash buyers, we are told that the buyer can purchase an insurance warranty package for approximately RM1,000 per year.

Upon checking with our sources in UMW Toyota, we are told that MyMotor are considered as ‘grey’ importers, and have no connection to UMW Toyota.
