Mitsubishi Triton Athlete 4×4 Pickup Truck Launched

An additional variant, the Mitsubishi Triton Athlete 4×4 pickup truck was just launched by official distributor, Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM). To differentiate it from the others in the range, the Triton Athlete wears new front bumper garnish, black grille with honeycomb mesh, sports bar, tailgate spoiler and 17″ black alloy wheels, as well as dark grey and orange decals. The Triton Athlete also comes in only Black Mica exterior colour to match the all-black trim, from the side steps to the door handles to the side mirrors.

Inside, the Triton Athlete breaks up the black monotony with orange coloured perforated leather for the seats, as well as orange stitching on the leather-wrapped steering wheel, leather gear knob, door trim and centre console. The Triton Athlete also gets a new touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay connectivity.

Safety-wise, the Triton Athlete sports 7 airbags, Electronic Brake-force Distribution, Brake Assist, Active Stability with Traction Control, Hill Start Assist, Trailer Stability Assist and Brake Override System, as well as the strengthened Mitsubishi Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution (RISE) body.

Other features include auto bi-xenon HID with LED daytime running lights, push button start, dual zone climate control, powered driver’s seat and reverse camera.

It is powered by a 2.4L MIVEC turbodiesel with VVT and VGT that is good for 181 PS and 430 Nm, and is mated with a 5-speed automatic with paddle shifters and manual mode.

The Triton Athlete shares the same price tag as the Triton Adventure X i.e. RM126,990 (on the road without insurance), and is covered by a 5-year / 200,000 km warranty.
