Petron Malaysia had just started its 3rd iteration of its popular Hypermarket Sweep Challenge at the Giant Hypermarket in Section 13, Shah Alam. The Hypermarket Sweep gives the winners a predetermined time to spend money on as many grocery items as they can, up to their winning value.
In the first leg of this year’s Hypermarket Sweep Challenge, there were 8 grand prize winners who each had 5 minutes to grab up to RM 5,000 worth of goodies. There were also 8 consolation prize winners who got to sweep RM 3,000 worth in 4 minutes.
In total, there are 56 winners nationwide in Klang Valley, Johor Bahru, Penang, Kuantan and Kota Kinabalu, who are eligible for RM 240,000 worth of prizes.
Besides giving to its customers / contest winners, Petron Malaysia also shared the shopping experience with 2 orphanages – Pusat Jagaan Cahaya Kasih Bestari and Persatuan Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Cornerstone, with each home receiving RM 2,500 worth of groceries.
The first Petron Malaysia Hypermarket Sweep Challenge was held in 2015, with RM 50,000 worth of prizes; the 2nd in 2016 gave away RM 140,000. This year’s Challenge is giving out RM 240,000 which is Petron’s biggest thus far.

The Hypermarket Sweep Challenge, which is one of the unique campaigns under our Petron Miles program, is part of our commitment to deliver more value-added and rewarding incentives for our loyal customers.”
This year, Petron is partnering with Giant Malaysia Sdn Bhd, which runs the nation’s largest hypermarket chain. “We are delighted that Petron has chosen Giant to hold this event. Apart from Giant Shah Alam Stadium, these events will be held at four other venues namely Giant City Mall, Giant Bayan Baru, Giant Plentong and Giant Kuantan,” said Roseta Mohd Jaafar, Corporate Affairs Director of GCH Retail (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd.
