Ferrari Celebrates Its 70th Anniversary At Penang UNESCO World Heritage Site

Ferrari has had a long and illustrious history, and the Cavallino Rampante (Prancing Horse) is still going strong. This year, Ferrari is celebrating being 70 years young all over the world and Naza Italia, the brand’s sole importer and distributor in Malaysia, held celebrations in Kuala Lumpur which preceded a Ferrari convoy ride to Penang for a gala dinner at Fort Cornwallis, Georgetown, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Ferrari Malaysia Grand Celebration at Penang City Hall - 70th AnniversaryGreeted by Ferrari enthusiasts and a lion dance, the convoy of 50 Ferraris lined up along Jalan Padang Kota Lama in front of the Penang City Hall. The Ferrari owners were then treated to the local hawker fare specially arranged for the occasion.

Datuk Wira Hj. SM Faisal Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin, NAZA World Group Executive Chairman, said, “With the Pearl of the Orient being such a historical gem and a city where heritage is both highly regarded and celebrated by local and international visitors alike, it made the ideal setting in which to gather and reflect on Ferrari’s many accomplishments.”

“Here in the heart of this World Heritage Site, we are reminded of the value of the past and how we can appreciate the best parts of what has been as we move forward. The 70 th Anniversary festivities taking place all over the world in 2017 are not only about honouring Ferrari’s history; they also inspire us to look ahead to the brand’s future and even more milestones,” Datuk Wira Hj. SM Faisal added.

Maimunah binti Mohd Sharif, the Mayor of Penang, and YB Danny Law Heng Kiang, Penang State Tourism Development & Culture Exco. Notable Ferraris were on display at the dinner, including the Ferrari 328 GTB, Ferrari Mondial & Ferrari 348.

Naza Italia Ferrari Cheque Presentation to the 3 charity homes in Penang  - 70th Anniversary MalaysiaDuring the gala dinner, Naza Italia also presented cheques totaling RM 105,000 to 3 charity homes in Penang – Pusat Jagaan Permata Kasih, St. Joseph’s Home and The Salvation Army Penang Children’s Home, as part of its CSR through its charitable foundation, Yayasan Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin, .

Introduced at the elegant gala dinner at Fort Cornwallis, was the limited edition LaFerrari Aperta, a special series model to mark LaFerrari Aperta at the Gala Dinner at Fort Cornwallis - Ferrari 70th Anniversary MalaysiaFerrari’s 70th Anniversary; it was earlier unveiled in Kuala Lumpur. Only 209 units are available globally and Malaysia is said to have 2 units. The LaFerrari Aperta is dedicated to the most loyal of Ferrari customers and is a car that you can purchase only by invitation.

This supercar has an open top and is equipped with the same hybrid power unit as the coupé – an 800 cv 6,262cc V12 engine (specific power output of 128 cv/l, compression ratio 13.5:1), coupled with a 120 kW electric motor for a total power output of a 963 cv (949 hp).

There are celebrations in 60 countries with 70 events bearing the “Driven by Emotion” theme planned, culminating in a celebration in Ferrari’s birthplace – Maranello, Italy, on 9 & 10 September 2017.
