Mitsubishi Triton Pickup Gets Enhanced Warranty And Features

Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) has updated its popular Triton pickup truck with a better warranty and more features. The Mitsubishi Triton is now the only pickup (up to the 2.4 liter category) to offer a 5-year or 200,000 km warranty. This coverage is applicable to all Triton variants except the Quest variant 4×2 (this one gets 5 years or 100,000 km).

Besides this, the Triton has also been refreshed with improved safety and premium features. The range-topping Triton VGT Adventure X and Adventure variants boast a 5-star ASEAN NCAP crash test rating, with the help of 7 SRS airbags.

All Triton VGT variants i.e. those equipped with the 2.4 liter aluminum block MIVEC turbo diesel engine with variable geometry turbine, now come with the Active Stability & Traction Control (ASTC) system which helps you stay in control.

To recap, the MIVEC VGT engine produces 181 PS and 430 Nm of torque (15% more efficient than its 2.5-liter predecessor); it uses a timing chain for lower maintenance cost and longer servicing lifespan. The engine is paired with either a 5-speed automatic with manual override or a new 6-speed manual transmission (VGT variant only). The 4×4 variants have the Easy Select knob with shift-on-the-fly.

The Triton also gets a new 4-spoke multi-function steering wheel and new instrument cluster. The Triton Adventure variants get an additional 8-way powered driver’s seat, leather upholstery and a reverse view camera.

On the outside, there’s the darkened chrome grille and new side step design. All VGT variants use automatic bi-Xenon HID headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights; the Triton Adventure X also gets a more rugged look with front bumper shield extender and 17″ dual tone alloy wheels.
