Have A Break At Petronas This Chinese New Year
The long festive weekend is upon us once again and many will make trips out of town to visit family, friends or just to chill. If you’re one of those driving somewhere, we urge you to get proper rest before setting off. And bring your favorite music along so you don’t drive angry. If you have children in the car, have them bring their favorite book, game or toy. Diapers too, may not be a bad idea even for older children as you’ll never know.
And if you need to stop at an R&R, head over to the Petronas station for a break as they will be serving 600,000 cups of freshly brewed coffee and snacks. 121 Petronas stations along highways, trunk roads and high traffic areas will continue the Petronas Coffee Break tradition this Chinese New Year and will be serving freebies on 26-27 January and 30-31 January from 2pm until they run out of things to serve. But even if you don’t like coffee, there are other beverages (and snacks) available at the Kedai Mesra.
“We are anticipating high traffic along the highways during the Chinese New Year holiday. We invite motorists to take a break and recharge at our stations and at the same time, refuel with our winning formula, PETRONAS Primax 95 and Primax 97, before continuing your journey,” said Mohd Ibrahimnuddin Mohd Yunus, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, PETRONAS Dagangan Berhad.
The Petronas Coffee Break campaign is in its 18th year and the company is working with the Road Safety Department of Malaysia (JKJR) to remind road users about road safety. They have prepared reminders at the Petronas stations to reinforce the safety message. Chief among them are ALWAYS WEAR YOUR SEATBELT (that includes rear passengers), DO NOT TAILGATE, DO NOT USE THE PHONE WHILE DRIVING. On the last one, if you need to switch on a navigation app to search for alternative routes, have your passenger do it for you.
Also important is to ensure your tires are inflated to the recommended tire pressure. And for those who will be riding motorcycles, please ensure your helmet is properly buckled.
In addition to the distribution of free coffee, Petronas is collaborating with Proton by offering free 20-point safety inspections of Proton cars at selected stations.
“Road safety is a natural concern for us at PETRONAS. These safety tips will serve as a good reminder and enhance safety and more mindful driving that can prevent accidents and save lives. Ultimately we wish for every person to arrive at their destinations safe and well,” Ibrahimnuddin continued.
At the same time, Petronas is again (for the 23rd year) sponsoring fuel for the 50 St. John Ambulance of Malaysia (SJAM) emergency response vehicles which will provide emergency assistance to motorists on the major highways.
Other partners of the Petronas Coffee Break are Nestle Products Sdn Bhd, Munchworld Marketing Sdn Bhd, Suntory Beverages & Food Malaysia Sdn Bhd and Mondelez Malaysia Sales Sdn Bhd.
