Leona Chin Scores A Pair In Korea

Malaysian female racer, Leona Chin finished in 2nd place twice at the 2nd leg of the Renault Clio Cup China Series held recently at the Korea International Circuit. Her twin successes come fresh after her first-ever podium finish in Zhuhai in March; she was also the only female driver in the Korea round.

Racing her unmistakable bright pink-liveried Team WebTVAsia car, Leona started both races 2nd on the grid next to overall series leader and Korean leg winner, Kenneth Lim. However unlike the Zhuhai stop where she had difficult track conditions, Leona adjusted much better this time, never relinquishing her position.

Race 2 saw more excitement as Leona overtook Kenneth at the start, sparking a neck-to-neck race for over 5 laps before conceding the lead. But Leona managed to keep her cool and finished second ahead of Ma Hon Wah.

“I pushed myself hard today knowing there’s a good chance of winning. Kenneth is always a tough competitor so I am happy to have improved from 3rd (in Zhuhai leg) to 2nd in Korea. For sure I will aim for the top spot again in the next race in Buriram, Thailand,” said Leona at the post-race interview.

The Renault Clio Cup Series will travel to Chang International Circuit, Thailand next (11-12 June) in its 6-leg Asia tour. The championship will then return to China for the remaining races in Chengdu, Shanghai and Zhejiang.

Autoworld congratulates Leona and wishes her more success in her motorsports outings.
