KUALA LUMPUR, 23 March, 2016– Volkswagen Malaysia today announced two new variants of its very popular Golf 7, with more features at a lower price. The new features include Park Assist, which allows the Golf to practically park itself with the driver only having to use the brakes or accelerator when prompted.

The two new variants, named the Golf Highline and the Golf Comfortline, are priced at RM159,888.00 and RM149,888.00 respectively (price without registration and insurance, valid for Peninsular Malaysia only).

The Golf is recognized worldwide, having won numerous awards such as the World Car of the Year in 2009 and 2013 along with the European Car of the Year in 1992 and 2013. In Malaysia, the Golf continues to be popular for its high performance, excellent fuel economy and superb road handling.

Mr. Armin Keller, Managing Director of Volkswagen Group Malaysia said that “The Golf has always been one of Volkswagen’s iconic model since its debut in 1974. Seven generations later, the Golf has undergone impressive advancement in system technology featuring the best of German engineering. It is also a car that Malaysians have come to love. With the upgraded Golf, we believe that drivers will find these added features useful and will complement their driving. Now at a lower price and packed with added features, Volkswagen Malaysia is staying true to our commitment of making our cars accessible to Malaysians”

The upgraded Golf 1.4 Highline, priced at RM 159,888* comes with:-

Added Technology Features

The upgraded Golf offers simplicity in driving with added advanced technology and the best of German engineering.

Keyless Entry & Push Start (KESSY) is a newly added feature that allows entry and starting up the engine with just the key fob in your pocket, a great convenience to have especially when your hands are full of stuff.

Park Assist and Rest Assist are another two useful feature added to further enhance the overall driving experience. These features give drivers the convenience of having the car park itself with a touch of a button leaving only the pedal work to the driver; and a state-of-the-art fatigue detection system that senses fading concentration levels by intelligently measuring your pedal and steering-wheel use.

 Other Upgrades

The Golf now gets 17-inch Madrid wheels that improve not only the looks but driving dynamics. In Addition, LED tail lights have been fitted for better visibility on the roads.

The upgraded Golf also offer drivers a sportier feel with the new sport seats with “Mel Stripe” fabric for better grip and hold, allowing drivers to be seated and fitted comfortably when driving.

Engine and Performance

The upgraded Golf’s 1.4L TSI turbocharged direct petrol injection 4-cylinder petrol engine now has an increased output of 150PS, a 10PS increase from the outgoing model and a maximum torque of 250Nm available from as low as 1,500rpm to 3,500rpm. The engine is paired with a 7-speed Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG) enabling it to accelerate from 0 to 100kph in 8.2 seconds and reaching a maximum speed of 216kph.

The DSG is known not only for its smooth shifts, but also contributes to better fuel economy as it has zero transmission slip. Besides, with seven closely placed gear ratios, it also enhances acceleration. The combination of advanced engine and transmission enable a fuel consumption rating of 20 km per litre, or 5.0 litres per 100 kilometres.

The new Golf is available in six different colours, – Limestone Grey, Sunset Red, Pure White, Deep Black, Pacific Blue and Tungsten Silver. Bookings are available forthwith at all Volkswagen dealers.
